Quick Facts: Terrific Tibouchina’s
There are many wonderful varieties of Tibouchina’s
available that vary in size & colour from 1m shrubs
to 6m trees. Whilst ‘Jazzy’ & ‘Groovy Baby’ varieties
flower all year round, their main flowering times are
Autumn & Spring.
Soil & Climate
For abundant flowers, plant
in a sunny position with rich
slightly acidic soil (approx. pH
of 5.5 to 6.5).
Watering
Tibouchina require regular
water until established, to
ensure a good start to life
(approx. 1 year).
pH can be lowered by using a
Sulphur Powder.
After which they need nothing
beyond natural rainfall, unless
there is an exstended dry spell.
Tibouchina’s like a warm to hot
climate and will be affected by
frost. Except the white ‘Peace
Baby’, this plant is suitable for
colder climates
