the UK!
Meet some of the finalists in this year’s International
Young Journalist Competition! They’re from England,
New Zealand and India.
“Hello. I’m Steve Chang. I’m English and I live in Manchester.
My mum’s English and my dad’s Chinese. I’m seventeen. My
hobbies are swimming and surfing the Internet. Oh, and I like
cooking – Chinese food, of course! My birthday’s on 12th April
and my favourite colour’s blue.
My interests are the cinema and multicultural British society.
My ambition is to be a reporter.”
“Hi! My name’s Emily Watson. I’m sixteen years old and
my birthday’s on 30th November. I’m from Richmond, in
south-west London. I haven’t got a favourite colour – I like
all colours. I like dancing and playing squash.

My ambition is to be a newspaper editor one day. My special
interests are sport and science and technology.”
“Hello. My name’s Rebecca Russell. I’m eighteen and I live
in Auckland, New Zealand, with my parents. My hobbies are
drawing and scuba diving – a strange combination, I know!
My favourite colour’s red and my birthday’s on 3rd November.
My ambition is to be an illustrator. My special interests are
psychology, education and tourism.”
“Hi! I’m Amar Prabhu and I’m from Delhi, in India. I’m
eighteen years old. My birthday’s on 17th July and my
favourite colour’s green. I love music and I like singing
and playing the guitar. My favourite band is Euphoria.
My special interests are music, international politics
and globalisation. One day I want to be a cameraman.”
