[17-18] Read the passage and answer the questions.
Numbers can be classified in many ways. The simplest class is the counting numbers (1, 2,
3...).With the addition of 0, these are known as whole numbers. The counting numbers are
also called positive numbers because they are more than 0. For each of the positive
numbers, there is also a negative number (−1, −2, −3…). Negative numbers are less than 0.
Fractions are numbers that are parts of a whole object. Fractions are written as digits
separated by a line. For example 3⁄4 is a fraction. The digit below the line is called the
denominator. The digit above the line is called the numerator. In reading a fraction, the
numerator is said first. For example, 3⁄4 is read as “three fourths.” Fractions can also be
written in decimals. Decimals are written using the digits (0–9) along with a dot called a
decimal point. For example, 0.75 is a decimal.
17. Based on the passage, what is true about fractions?
a. Their digits are separated by a dot.
b. The number on the bottom is called the numerator.
c. They can be written in decimal form.
d. The denominator is said first.

known as Roman numerals. How do you write your age in Roman numerals?
