Congratulations and best of luck to each of the officers. Forever Young Senior Club Pico Rivera History & Heritage Society The Society was founded in January 1970, to preserve the historical memorabilia, reminiscences and local narrative of the city. The preservation includes the city’s origin, development, social and political patterns, and historical heritage. The Society is also tasked with selecting sites, buildings and other physical features that have significance as historical monuments within the city. In 1999, the Society opened the Pico Rivera Historical Museum in the former Santa Fe Railway Station that was built during the 1880’s. Originally located off of Serapis Avenue, the station was re-located to its current location on Washington Boulevard and restored by the City in 1973. The refurbished building was first used by the Pico Rivera Chamber of Commerce beginning in 1974. Recently, city staff just finished an extensive outdoor restoration of the historical building, updating the railroad sign, landscaping, sanding, and repainting it to its signature red and white color scheme. Since it’s opening, the museum has welcomed countless students and residents wanting to learn about the community’s past through pictures and artifacts. The Pico Rivera History Museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and first Saturday of the month, or by appointment. The museum is located at 9122 Washington Boulevard.
