Business Tariffs 2015-16
Here is a summary of our water, sewerage and trade effluent tariffs for 1 April 2015
to 31 March 2016. Further charge information can be found on our website at
www.anglianwater.co.uk/business. If you need any help selecting the right tariff,
please contact us.
Businesses with Meters
Our standard water tariffs are based on potable water supply. It may be possible to
choose a non-potable supply, although there is limited availability.
Our standard sewerage tariffs are based on sewage (or “foul water”) and surface
water drainage. There is a reduced fixed charge for properties not connected to the
public sewer for surface water drainage.
Streamline Tariffs
If your business uses less than 10,000 cubic metres of water a year, you will
usually get the best value by selecting your tariff based on the amount of water you
use.

Profile Tariffs
If your site uses more than 10,000 cubic metres per year, a Profile tariff is
compulsory. If you use more than 25,000 cubic metres per year, you will be
charged on the Profile Plus tariff unless you meet the criteria and opt for the Profile
- Interruptible or Profile - Industrial Non-Potable tariff.
If you are on the Profile, Profile - Industrial Non-Potable, or Profile – Interruptible
water tariff, sewerage will be charged on one of the Streamline tariffs, as displayed
on your bills.

Trade Effluent - the Mogden formula
Trade effluent is used water produced in the course of a trade or industry, but not
including domestic sewage. Trade effluent charges are calculated in line with the
Ofwat-approved Mogden formula, set out below, which is used by all sewerage
companies.
C = R + VB + [(Ot/Os) x B] + [(St/Ss) x S]
R - reception and conveyance
VB - volumetric and primary treatment (works with biological treatment)
Ot - chemical oxygen demand (COD) (in mg/l) of the trade effluent after onehour quiescent settlement
Os - the mean strength of settled sewage at Anglian Water's Sewage Treatment
Works, as determined by COD (489mg/l)
B - biological treatment
St - total suspended soils (in mg/l) of the trade effluent
Ss - the mean suspended solids content of the sewage at Anglian Water's Sewage
Treatment Works (415mg/l)
