On Friday, April 15th at 6pm, author Omar Barghouti will sign and discuss his book,
"Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions: The Global Struggle for Palestinian Rights” and at 8:30pm,
Egyptian activist, Sahar El-Nadi, will lead a discussion. Both events are free and open
to the public and will take place at Busboys and Poets (1025 5th Street, NW).
WASHINGTON, D.C. – After months of extended delays and an international public
pressure campaign, the U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem has finally
granted Omar Barghouti a visa to visit the United States. He has resumed his
delayed tour and will be at Busboys and Poets’ 5th & K location (1025 5th
Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001) on Friday, April 15th at 6 pm to sign and
discuss his latest book, "Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions: The Global
Struggle for Palestinian Rights". Barghouti is an independent Palestinian
commentator and human rights activist. He is a founding member of the
Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI)
and the Palestinian Civil Society Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS)
campaign against Israel.
In this, his latest book, Omar Barghouti makes the case for a rights-based BDS
campaign to stop Israel’s occupation, colonization, and apartheid against the
Palestinian people.
Following Bargouti’s presentation, Eqyptian activist, Sahar El-Nadi, will speak at
8:30pm at Busboys and Poets, 5th & K and share exclusive footage from the
heart of Tahrir Square. She will discuss the use of Tahrir Square creativity as a
tool for mass education and facilitating change while explaining the pivotal role
women played in the revolution.
Sahar is the creator and director of "Don't Hate, Educate" an award-winning
intercultural communication project. She's a writer, photographer and public
speaker, as well as a creativity and communication instructor. A Q&A will follow
Sahar's talk.
