January 13, 2014 Maritime Dance Performance
We had a performance from Maritime Dance on Friday afternoon. It was enjoyed by all of our students and teachers. There was a great anti-bullying message and even audience participation.
Thank you to the dancers for doing such a great job and sharing their talent with our students.
PTO Meeting
There will be a PTO meeting on Monday evening at 6:15 in the school library. Please feel free to
come out and offer your help! There will be many events between now and June and any help is
always welcome and appreciated.
Nickel Challenge
For the last number of years our school has been able to purchase lots of new books for classroom
libraries at a time in the year when our students need a little inspiration. We use our “Bottles for
Books” money for this project as well as our penny campaign. Since pennies are becoming in short
supply, we are now going to focus on collecting nickels. To make the challenge a little bit more interesting, we are having a nickel weigh-in on February 24th. Each classroom will collect nickels between now and February 24. We will weigh each classrooms nickels during the assembly to determine which class will win a local bus trip and a pizza lunch! Start tossing your nickels aside to help
your child’s classroom win! Everyone will be a winner when their classroom receives a new book
collection for their classroom in the spring.
Bracelets for We Act
Just prior to Christmas break we created 100 beautiful glass bead bracelets to sell to our community. We were overwhelmed with how quickly they sold. In fact, it was so successful, we are doing it
again just in time for Valentines or Mother’s Day. This time the bracelets will be even better! The
supply is very limited and they will be sure to sell out in about one week. If you would like to reserve
a bracelet, complete the slip below and send it into the school. We will build a bracelet just for you
in the colour and size of your choice. The best part is that the bracelets are just $10 (taxes in)!

Charm Challenge of the Week!
Everyone has a favourite book; what is yours? Read your favourite
book, draw a picture about your favourite part, and write about what
you like about it. Bring your picture to the office and share your work
and you will receive a special “bookworm” charm!
