Treetops Times January 2017 Talking Head Well, 2017 has certainly started off at a swift pace with lots going on. All pupils settled back in really well after the Christmas break and there is a real positive vibe about the school. I am still constantly showing visitors around the school, both professionals (teachers and support staff from other mainstream and special schools, educational psychologists, etc) and parents of children needing a place at our school. All comment on the superb attitude and behaviour of the pupils and the quiet , calm purposeful atmosphere of the school. It is largely if not entirely because of this that we are looking at converting to academy status to enable us to potentially build another school. This is not a decision or commitment that we have made lightly. Most of our parents will know that we do not have sufficient places to meet the current or predicted future demand. Most parents will know from bitter experience that securing a place at our school wasn't and still isn’t a straightforward or easy process. I genuinely feel for parents when I show them around, they like what they see, can see how their child may thrive in our environment and then I tell them they can’t have it! We have an interview scheduled for Friday 3rd February at the DfE – I will keep you informed. Mr Smith Henry VIII, the history retold by Class 8TR Today (18/1/17) my class, Class 8Tr had their class assembly on the Tudors. It focused on Henry VIII and his 6 wives. Our assembly was different because we did a role play and some of the boys dressed up as Henry’s 6 wives. We performed a song ‘Divorced, Beheaded and Died’ It told us about the fate of Henry’s 6 wives. It made the children laugh. I think the assembly went really well. We really enjoyed performing and doing the assembly. We practised for hours trying to get it perfect. Jamie and Patrick were great King Henry VIIIs. We are looking forward to our next assembly now! “ Sonny Watts 8Tr It’s the responsibility of every teacher never to give up on a child.
