Access our eAudiobooks on your computer/MP3 player
NOTE: The BorrowBox app is available for Android and Apple devices as well as Kindle Fire. For
more information, look at our “Access our eAudiobooks on your Kindle Fire” or “Access our
eAudiobooks on your tablet and phone” guides.
Step 1. What is BorrowBox?

BorrowBox is a digital platform from which you can access our eAudiobooks and a
smaller selection of e-books. It is a free service but you do need to download a free
software, Adobe Digital Editions, to access e-books on your computer/laptop and ereaders. eAudiobooks do not require Adobe.
Step 2. What you need


your computer and an Internet connection
your Western Isles Libraries card number and pin
Step 3. Downloading free Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)

go to your web browser and search for Adobe Digital Editions

download the free program - you will be asked for an Adobe ID. If you don’t have one,
you’ll have the option to create one. It only requires an email address and pin number
you create for yourself
Step 4. Using BorrowBox - http://library.bolindadigital.com/westernisles

use the BorrowBox link from our website to access eAudiobooks. Login with your
library card number and pin. Browse and borrow. When confirming a download, save
it on your computer/laptop in the ‘download’ folder

to listen on your computer/laptop: find your ‘download’ folder, right-click on the
eAudiobook to select ‘extract all files’. Once unzipped, drag and drop the files into
either Windows Media Player or iTunes.

to transfer e-audiobooks to a MP3 player: connect the player to your computer. Find
your ‘download’ folder, right-click on the e-audiobook to select ‘extract all files’. Once
unzipped, drag and drop the files in the player.

to read e-books on the computer/laptop or use an e-reader: transfer the e-book from
your ‘download’ folder into ADE. Use ADE to read e-books on your computer or use
drag and drop to transfer it onto an e-reader. Connect the e-reader to the computer
and it should appear in ADE under ‘devices’.
