May will be a really busy month so
please pay attention to the calendar.
The election of officers for 2017-2018
is on Saturday, May 13th from 9 am
to 6 pm. Installation of new officers
will be Saturday, May 20th at 7 pm.
Later in this newsletter is a list of
candidates for offices. Lots of other
events going on in May. Friday, May
12th is the Silent Men’s Reverse
Countdown and dinner that is one
of their primary fund raisers. Friday,
May 19th there will be a live band
and food available. Sunday, the
day after our installation of officers
is our annual Golf Scramble for the
Post Baseball team. If you know
anyone that is interested in playing
let someone at the post know. Entry
fee is $50 per person. Also that day
is the 6th District meeting at which
there will be a Post Everlasting
Ceremony.
Our Post baseball team begins
play in June. These young men
always play great baseball. The
John Hayes “Best of Midwest”
tournament will feature a number
of teams that are traditionally strong
teams. It always helps to have the
support of our members so we hope
to see many of you at the games.
After 3 years as post Commander I
want to thank all the officers, Legion,
SAL, and Auxiliary for their support.
Too many names to mention
individually, but all your efforts are
much appreciated. I wish all the new
officers a great year.
God Bless our troops.
Roy S. Dowell, Commander
FROM THE
1st VICE
COMMANDER
Stacie Wagle
Yes, the clubroom is still getting
better. Thursday Karaoke sessions
are fun and attracting good crowds.
The UCP fund raiser in March
was a great success. Supporting
the community and good causes
is one of the main reasons the
American Legion exists. Our dart
leagues and pool leagues are
continuing and adding to the fun in
the clubroom. Special thanks to all
who have expressed their support
and prayers during Sharon’s health
difficulties. The American Legion
is truly a family. Enjoy the Spring
weather and I hope to see you in
the Clubroom.
Stacie Wagle,
1st Vice Commander
