The Fault in Our Stars

2017-2018 10th Grade Summer Reading Projects
10th Grade Standard
Directions: The student will create an alphabet book project for Fault in Our Stars by John Green OR
Copper Sun by Sharon Draper. Make sure to complete all parts of the project and follow the rubric to
achieve your desired grade. Projects are due the first Friday of the school year.
Option 1: Alphabet Book
Write each letter of the alphabet and describe (in sentence form) how that letter relates to a character,
setting, or event that occurred in the novel and how it is significant. Include a minimum of ten pictures
and make your assignment into a book format. Make sure to include all twenty-ix letters of the
alphabet. For the obscure letters U, V, W, X, Y, Z you may include a word that contains the letter (but
does not start with the letter).
Example: Romeo and Juliet
A: Apothecary
The Apothecary was a
character in the play who gave
Romeo a poison to seal his
fate. Without the Apothecary,
Romeo may have not killed
himself at the end of the play.
B: Benvolio
Benvolio is Romeo’s cousin.
Benvolio helps Romeo mature
and make thought out
decisions. He also tries to help
Romeo with his irrational
emotions.
