School Description
THE Loomis Chaffee School is a four-year, coeducational, independent boarding school located on a 300-acre campus
in Windsor, Connecticut. Chartered in 1874 by five siblings whose children all died tragically and who then selflessly
founded a school as a gift to the children of others, Loomis provides a superb education for motivated and talented
students, inspiring in them a commitment to the best self and the common good. Academically rigorous, the school
promotes the pursuit of excellence “in spirit, mind, and body” within a community where it is easy to be “good and
friendly” and where the diversity of person and idea are not only respected but championed. All 675 Loomis students,
who currently represent 30 U.S. states and 47 countries, plan to attend four-year colleges and universities. The school
is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is a founding member of the Association of
College Counselors of Independent Schools.
