Chinese Speaking Tour Fairbanks & the Arctic February 26 – 28, 2016 Golden North Tour This FAM tour is designed specifically for Chinese tour operators and will be operated in Mandarin by a local Chinese tour company visiting many Alaska tourism properties. The tour begins in Anchorage on Friday morning and concludes in Fairbanks on Monday morning. Highlights of this trip include flightseeing around Mount McKinley, spotting wildlife as you travel around the Fairbanks area, mineral hot springs, crossing the Arctic Circle and viewing the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. You will also dine at a local brewery and have the opportunity to taste locally crafted beers. There will be a reception in your honor where you will meet and network with local tourism partners. Bring your cameras, cold weather gear and enthusiasm for this remarkable experience. There will be opportunities to purchase outerwear and boots in Anchorage before your departure to Fairbanks if needed. February 26 Have breakfast on your own this morning before meeting Alaska Skylar Travel for your departure to Fairbanks. Your trip north by jet will take a little over an hour and if the weather is clear you will have a chance to view North America’s tallest mountain, Mount McKinley on your flight. You will be met in Fairbanks by a representative from Explore Fairbanks. Choose from several activities or shopping this afternoon. Dinner will be at Silver Gulch Brewery. Depart your hotel at 9 p.m. for aurora viewing. Dinner included Overnight: Fairbanks February 27 Enjoy breakfast on your own, or sleep in before your 10 a.m. departure for Coldfoot, a small town above the Arctic Circle. The group will split up, with some flying up to Coldfoot and driving back to Fairbanks, and the others driving up and flying back. This is the haul road made famous in the American television show “Ice Road Truckers.” It winds through the vast tundra of the far north. Tonight you will stay in Coldfoot, or return to Fairbanks for the evening. Lunch and dinner included Overnight: Fairbanks February 28 Enjoy breakfast on your own but be ready to meet your group in the late morning for your transfer to Chena Hot Springs Resort. Spend the day soaking in the mineral springs as you sip a cold beverage under the winter skies. Ask your Alaska Skylar Travel guide about activities available at the resort. Tonight you may be staying at the Chena Hot Springs Resort Hotel or returning to Fairbanks for the evening.
