Anchor 1: Hello. I’m Anchor 1 reporting for Burst
News.
Anchor 2: I’m Anchor 2. Welcome to Burst News.
Every year on April 22, we celebrate a very special
day. It’s called Earth Day!
Anchor 1: People learn how to take care of our
planet on Earth Day.
Anchor 2: It is important to take care of the Earth
and all its animals.
Anchor 1: We should also know how to keep
Earth’s animals safe.
72
Anchor 2: How can we keep animals safe? We
have Reporters 1 and 2 to tell us more.
81
Reporter 1: Animals need a clean home to live in.

Reporter 2: We help animals when we keep our
planet clean. This gives them a safe place to live.
Anchor 2: That’s right. If we dirty our planet, then
we dirty the homes of many animals, birds, and
fish.

Reporter 1: It also hurts animals when we cut trees
down. Many animals need trees.
Reporter 2: Birds make their nests there. Trees
also have leaves and fruits that animals eat.
Anchor 2: What would happen if we didn’t take
care of the Earth and its animals? What would
happen if we didn’t keep it clean? What would
happen if people kept cutting trees down?
Anchor 1: A dirty Earth means that plants and
animals could die. Many animals would lose their
homes and food without trees.
Anchor 2: Imagine a world without beautiful
flowers, trees, birds, fish, and animals. That would
be bad. The worst part is that many animals are
dying in Africa.
Anchor 1: We have Reporters 3 and 4 to tell us
why this is happening.
Reporter 3: Hunters are hurting animals.
Reporter 4: People are cutting down trees.

Anchor 1: Animals will not have safe homes if there
are no trees.
Anchor 2: If hunters keep hurting animals, there
will be fewer animals in Africa.
Anchor 1: That would be very sad. Isn’t Africa very
far away?
Anchor 2: We have Burst Reporters 5 and 6 here
to tell us all about Africa.
Reporter 5: Africa is 8,000 miles away from
America. That’s very far away.
Reporter 6: Africa is also very big. There are many
countries inside of it.
Reporter 5: Africa has many people. Around 800
million people live in Africa.
Reporter 6: Africa also has the largest desert in the
world. It is called the Sahara Desert.
Anchor 1: Africa also has the longest river. It is
called the Nile River.
Anchor 2: Africa is very big. It is home to many
wonderful animals.

Anchor 1: That’s right. Burst Reporter 7 is here to
tell us more about the animals of Africa.
Reporter 7: Many animals live in Africa. You can
see all kinds of animals, birds, fish, and insects
there.
Anchor 2: That’s why it’s very important to keep
the Earth clean. We need to keep animals like
lions, tigers, monkeys, elephants, zebras, parrots,
crocodiles, and rhinos safe and healthy.
Anchor 1: Earth Day is a great way to teach
everyone around the world to take care of the Earth
and its animals.
Anchor 2: That means we should save the trees.
We should not hurt animals. We should also learn
how to keep the earth clean. This way, we will help
save Africa’s animals!
Anchor 1: That’s good to know. I’m Anchor 1
wishing you a good day.
Anchor 2: I’m Anchor 2. Thanks for watching Burst
News.
