Third Grade Treasures

Here are a few things for you to be aware of:

We will begin Pilgrim’s Progress in a week. This is our last book for the year. This book is a very spiritual
book, with a lot of symbolism. It is a harder, so we will be going over each chapter thoroughly. Students will
be reading at home and will have quizzes in class the following day.

Please continue to review all multiplication and division facts. We are learning how to reduce fractions.
Double digit multiplication and division are right around the corner. All facts learned will be reviewed each
day in class as well.

Students need to continue to practice ALL learned language skills. We have begun learning about nouns,
subjects, verbs, and diagraming. We will introduce adjectives soon.
Our last project is our biography book report. We will be handing this out next week. The finished reports
will be due on April 27th.




Our next History test is Friday, April 8th. The test will cover John Greenleaf Whittier, Robert E. Lee, and
Abe Lincoln. Please be sure to study with your child in order to help them to do well on their quizzes and
tests.
We will have our test on the western states on Friday, April 15th. Students will then have a test on all 50
states on Friday, May 6th.
Study Hall has begun! In fourth grade, students will have study hall all year. We like to get them ready so
they will know what is expected. During study hall, they are permitted to begin homework and start
studying. They still are required to take the homework home to show you that it has been completed. We
also strongly recommend that you continue to study for tests with them even when they say they have done
their studying during study hall. Once all homework is completed and if there is time still left, they are
permitted to read until study hall is over. Study hall is the last 35 minutes of the day.
Remember:





April’s calendar is on the website and has all tests and important events on it. It can be printed
and placed on refrigerators for convenience.
