Elite Class
The Elite class were land rich. They had a lot of influence and political power. They
were often very social and attended parties, and they were all well-educated. The
elite class made up the government, they were the governors and senators. They
made the laws that protected their interests. Their wealth and the economy of the
state depended on cotton and the institution of slavery.
