Course Outline:
This course is accredited at Level 3 and the award is equivalent of about half an AS level. AoPE is a
qualification in skills. The course is delivered by three members of staff who deliver lessons and
assessment in the following skill areas: Team Working, Improving Own Skills in Preparing and Presenting
information and Learning through Work Experience. Students that study this course are automatically part
of the BTEC Work Skills Course, to which there is a compulsory work experience element. The planning and
organisation of the work experience is an assessed element of the course. This course is offered to a small
group of students as part of a personalised learning pathway.
Assessment details:




All the work done in AoPE lessons, both practical work and written work, will be counted towards
this qualification.
The skills and achievements of the students are built up into a portfolio of work which is
presented for the award.
This portfolio has to be checked by an external moderator from the exam board and internally
moderated by qualified staff.
There are no exams for this course. The qualification is all based on work done throughout Year
12.
Top Tips:
 Be here every lesson. You will get behind if you miss the work and will need to find time to catch
up.
 Work hard in the lessons to finish the tasks. Every task counts.
 Take part in the activities and discussions. These courses are designed to help you show what you
can do.
 Keep up to date with paperwork and file recording. The paperwork is as important as the
discussion.
