AP U.S. History Unit 9: Empire and Expansion Organizing Principles: The clash between the U.S. government and Native Americans resulted in atrocities and attempts by the government to create policies to deal with the remaining tribes. The U.S. created an international empire as a result of its one-sided victory in the Spanish-American War.
