Win a Place in History for Your Association! Flag Bearer Roles – NWC2015 Opening Ceremony Entries Close – 5pm, Friday 12 June Would your Association like to be part of the NWC2015 Opening Ceremony? The Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 (NWC2015) will be held at Sydney Olympic Park (Allphones Arena & Netball Central) from Friday 7 to Sunday 16 August. NWC2015 is looking to appoint two (2) NSW based Associations, to provide flag bearers for the Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 Opening Ceremony on Friday 7 August at Allphones Arena. If you’re interested in being part of history, please submit your application by 5pm on Friday 12 June. How Do We Win? Please read the information following, to ensure that your Association can fulfill the requirements – if you are not able to fulfill all the requirements, your Association will unfortunately not be eligible. If you can fulfill all the obligations, please tell us in 50 words or less, why your Association should be part of NWC2015 History! Entries should be emailed to: 1 [email protected] When & Where is the NWC2015 Opening Ceremony? The Opening Ceremony will be held at Allphones Arena, Sydney Olympic Park on Friday 7 August from 7pm – 8pm. What Does A Flag Bearer Do? Flag Bearers will carry the Nation Flags of each participating Nation for the athlete parade element of the Opening Ceremony. There will be six (6) Flag Bearers per flag that lead the country onto the NWC2015 court. How Many Opening Ceremony Flag Bearers are required? NWC2015 requires 85 Flag Bearers in total. Associations wanting to participate must be able to provide up to 45 Flag Bearers aged between 10 and 14 years. Associations also need to provide four to five (4-5) Liaison Personnel, to assist at rehearsals and then back of house at the Opening Ceremony. What Age must the Flag Bearers be? Flag Bearers must be aged between 10 and 14 years. We want Dad’s too! The successful Associations must also be able to provide 10 ‘dads’ each to assist with the set up of the court for the Opening Ceremony. (The Opening Ceremony requires a vinyl floor to be laid prior to the Ceremony) The ‘dads’ will work with the Manufacturers staff to ‘roll out’ and ‘roll up’, the floor as part of the Ceremony Team. Please note, the vinyl pieces are heavy and as such individuals will require a degree of physical strength in order to perform this task. How Many Days Do Participants Need To Be Available For? Flag Bearers, Liaison Personnel and ‘Dads’ will need to be available on the following dates: • • • Rehearsal - Sunday 2 August, 9am – 5pm. Venue TBC, close to Allphones Arena Rehearsal - Wednesday 5 August, 4pm – 10pm. Allphones Arena Performance - Friday 7 August, 4pm – 9pm. Allphones All participants must be available for all rehearsals. 2 Flag Bearers – Win a Place in History What Provisions Are Being Made To Ensure The Flag Bearers Safety Arriving And Departing The Venue, Given They Are Under 18 Years? The NWC2015 Ceremonies Team will meet the Flag Bearers and the nominated Association Liaison Personnel at the Northern Foyer of Allphones Arena at 4pm on Friday 7 August and will check in all volunteers. While at the venue the Flag Bearers will remain in the care of the NWC2015 Ceremonies Team, with the Association nominated liaison personnel. At the conclusion of their duties the Flag Bearers will be taken back to the Northern Foyer to meet back up with their Parent / Guardian and they can then enjoy the Diamonds game. Do NWC2015 Volunteers undergo Working With Children Checks? Yes, most roles have the potential to have some contact with children so NWC2015 requires all volunteers aged 18 years or older to have a valid Working with Children Check. Do Associations / Parents of Flag Bearers Get A Ticket To Watch the Opening Ceremony? The successful Association / Club will receive an allocation of tickets that will provide the Flag Bearers, liaison personnel, ‘dads’ and support team (that get the kids to the venue) with a ticket to see the Australian Diamonds play in the game following the Opening Ceremony. The support team (other than those required back of house) will be able to watch the Ceremony in addition to the Diamonds game. Will the Flag Bearers Be Provided With Food And Drink during the Opening Ceremony Shift and at Rehearsals? Meals and refreshments will be provided to volunteers during their shifts and at rehearsals. If children have any specific meal requirements, they should make arrangements to bring their own food and notify NWC2015 of any specific allergies. What details are required from each Flag Bearer, Liaison Personnel & ‘Dads’? Flag Bearers, Association Liaison Personnel and ‘Dads’ will be required to provide their full name, address, contact phone number, email address and emergency contract details once confirmed. 3 Flag Bearers – Win a Place in History What will Flag Bearers, Liaison Personnel & ‘Dads’ be required to wear? Flag Bearers will require their netball uniform. All participants will be provided with a NWC2015 t-shirt to wear on the night, which can be kept as a memento of the Event.
