BELLEVIEW HIGH SCHOOL RULES AND REGULATIONS
The following rules and regulations are a reflection of Marion County School Board Policy, State Department of
Education Rules and Florida Statutes. All students shall be under the immediate control and direction of a teacher or
member of the instructional staff at all times that they are under the jurisdiction of the school. Board Policy 5.30 In
addition to this document, all students are expected to read the Marion County Public Schools Code of Student
Conduct to ensure understanding of all School Board policies and regulations.
ACCIDENTS/INJURIES
In the event your child has an accident or is injured at school or at a school function, the student should
report to the teacher on duty immediately and fill out an accident report form. If students are injured during regular
school hours, any medical expense incurred is the responsibility of the parent. The Marion County School Board does
not carry medical insurance on students while in school except for high school athletics. The School Board's liability
insurance only covers gross negligence; therefore, most injuries will not be covered, such as accidents during
supervised play. If you do not have insurance coverage, we encourage you to purchase the "24 hour Student
Accident" or "In-school Accident" insurance coverage which is offered to all parents at the beginning of each school
year.
In case of a health emergency, "911" (Emergency Medical Services) will be called and the parent/guardian will
be notified immediately. In the event the parent/guardian cannot be reached, the person designated by the
parent/guardian to call on the "In Case of Emergency" form will be notified

or use any tobacco products. Any person under 18 years of age who violates the provisions commits a non-criminal
violation which is punishable by hours of community service, a $25.00 fine, or by the Department of Highway Safety
and Motor Vehicles withholding the person’s driver’s license or driving privileges, as provided in Florida Statute
322.056. Violations may also result in suspension from school.

projects are permitted to be sold. If items noted above are lost or stolen it is not the responsibility of the
school.

BULLYING AND HARASSMENT PROHIBITION

district will not tolerate bullying and harassment of any type. Conduct that constitutes bullying and harassment, as

development, maturity, and demonstrated capabilities with a proper regard for the rights and welfare of other
students and school staff, the educational purpose underlying all school activities, and the care of school facilities and
equipment.
The school district believes that standards for student behavior must be set cooperatively through interaction
among the students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members producing an atmosphere that encourages
students to grow in self-discipline. The development of this atmosphere requires respect for self and others, as well
as for district and community property on the part of students, staff, and community members. Since students learn
by example, school administrators, faculty, staff, and volunteers will demonstrate appropriate behavior, treat others
with civility and respect, and refuse to tolerate harassment or bullying.

will be allowed to leave the campus, for any reason, without first checking in the office or with the appropriate work
coordinator and receiving permission. Failure to do so may result in a suspension from school.
LOCKERS
Students may retain a locker and lock from the school in buildings 3, 4, 5, or 10 for the school year for a nonrefundable rental fee of $5.00. Lockers and locks are the property of Belleview High School and are subject to
search and seizure at any time for any reason. Contraband substances found in lockers will be treated as if they were
found on the student who retained the locker. In the event that lockers are damaged and/or locks are lost or
damaged, students will be assessed a fine.
LOST AND FOUND
Lost and found items will be handled upstairs in building one. The school cannot be responsible for lost or
damaged items.
LUNCH PROGRAM
Free and reduced lunches are available to those who qualify. Forms for eligibility can be obtained in the
school cafeteria the first day of school, or the first day the student enrolls. Forms for eligibility for free or
reduced meals must be submitted yearly. The cafeteria uses a point-of-sale system for student meals. Students
pay and enter their account number as they pick up their lunches. Students who are absent have their credits carried
over to future days.
Due to state and local guidelines, which state that students are not allowed to charge lunches, students are
encouraged to deposit money into their account. This helps to speed the process at the cash register and avoids the
problem of insufficient funds.
Students are to report directly to the cafeteria area during their lunch. Designated lunch areas are INSIDE
THE WHITE LINES closest to the cafeteria. Students may not eat outside the media center, outside of
Building 1, on any grassy area, or at the entrance to, or in the stairwells. Students may move within the
white lines as they wish, but may not leave the area until the bell rings to end lunch. EXCESSIVE GARBAGE
OUTSIDE AT LUNCH WILL RESULT IN LUNCH TRAYS NOT BEING ALLOWED OUTSIDE OF THE CAFETERIA.
MEDICATION
Students on medication, non-prescription or prescription, should turn in ALL medicine to the clinic. A pass
will be issued to the student for the precise time to go to the clinic to take medicine.
If students are to take prescription medication during school hours, they must have the Official
Parent Authorization Form completed and on file. This form must be updated every three months for long-term
medications. No medication is permitted to be given or taken without this completed form. Students are not allowed
to keep medication in lockers, desks, backpacks, purses, etc., or on their persons. Failure to follow this rule may
result in suspension from school.
Parents, guardians, or someone designated on the student’s Emergency Parent Permission Form can be
contacted to bring in over- the-counter medication such as Tylenol, Tums, cough drops, etc. Belleview High School
cannot administer any of these over-the-counter medications.
STUDENTS WHO GIVE OR RECEIVE ANY TYPE OF MEDICATION MAY BE SUSPENDED OR RECOMMENDED TO
BE EXPELLED FROM SCHOOL, AS WELL AS FACE POSSIBLE LEGAL ACTION.
MONEY AND VALUABLES
The school is not responsible for lost or stolen valuables or money. Please use good judgment and do not
bring expensive items on campus.
OFF-LIMITS AREAS
Students are not permitted in parking lots, behind portables, or between buildings during school
hours.
DURING LUNCH, students are to report to the cafeteria area. Lunch-designated areas are INSIDE THE WHITE
LINE on the cafeteria side. Students are to remain within this area for their entire lunch period. No students are
permitted on the second level or in stairways during lunch. Students who violate the designated area rules will
be sent to the discipline office and reprimanded accordingly.
The wooded area between Belleview High School and Belleview Middle School is strictly off limits. For no
reason should a student be in this area before, during, or after school. Students who are caught in this area will be
suspended. Students caught on the Belleview Middle School campus, without authorization, will be
charged with trespassing and may be subject to legal action.
PARKING PRIVILEGES
PARKING ON THE BELLEVIEW HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT, AND MAY BE
REVOKED BY THE ADMINISTRATION AT ANY TIME.

window facing out. Students who receive a parking permit must abide by the parking regulations printed on the
application. Students will have 14 school days to obtain a parking decal. Illegally parked vehicles that do not
display a decal will be subject to receiving a ticket and an auto boot will be placed in the vehicle’s front
wheel. Failure to pay parking tickets will result in revocation of privileges. Skateboards and bicycles are not to be
ridden on campus. Bicycles should be parked at the bike racks, located next to the gym.
By entering Belleview High School’s campus, the person driving any vehicle is deemed to consent
to complete search of the vehicle for any reason. Such search may be conducted by school officials or by law
enforcement officers at school request. If any person in the car other than the driver is the current custodian of the
vehicle, consent to search is deemed given by the custodian also. The area of search will include the entire passenger
compartment, engine compartment, trunk and undercarriage, and all containers therein, locked or unlocked.
PERSONAL PROPERTY
Neither the school nor the School Board of Marion County provides any insurance coverage for
damage to or theft of a student's personal property.
