From the President’s Corner
by Roger Boyette
Welcome to our tenth edition of “The ReConnection.”
I want to thank everyone that attended our ReCon
Family Picnic, and a special thanks to Sandy for all
her hard work. Everyone I talked to had a great time
and really enjoyed the facilities. It was a miracle that
we were able to procure the West Cal Event Center
for our site for the revised date. The temperature
was just right and the food was fantastic. As a matter of fact, we have already scheduled the Event
Center for next year, so mark your calendar for July
23rd, 2016.

Well, the first twenty years of ReCon has flown by
and God has truly blessed us. We are proud of our
personnel and thank you for helping us become the
largest Engineering Company in Southwest, LA. For
the last ten years we have been listed as one of the
top fifty privately held companies in Southwest LA.
As well, for year end of 2014 we were listed by the
Engineering News Record (ENR) as 39th in TX/LA Top
Design Firms and 4th in LA. Again, we thank you and
give all the Glory to God. We are excited and looking
forward to what God has in store for us over the next
twenty years.
One of the accomplishments of this year is that we
finally moved into our new location for our Texas
Office on June 22nd. We are now located in the Century Tower, Suite 850 at 550 Fannin in Beaumont,
TX. If you are over that way during regular working
hours, stop by and visit; our Texas personnel would
love to show you around.
As always we want to thank you for being a part of
the ReCon family. We know you have a choice of
where you want to work and we appreciate each and
every one of you. We pray daily for you and your
family.

OVEREIGN
GOD IS SOVEREIGN
By Roger Boyette We see our country moving further and further away from the Christian principles that it was founded upon. No one can deny that many of
the founding fathers of the United States of America were men of deep religious convictions based on the Bible and their Christian faith in
Jesus Christ. Of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence, nearly half (24) held seminary or Bible school degrees.
The following Christian quotes of the founding fathers will give you an overview of their strong moral and spiritual convictions which helped
form the foundations of our nation and our government.
George Washington
1st U.S. President
"While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of
religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian."
— The Writings of Washington, pp. 342-343.
Thomas Jefferson
3rd U.S. President, Drafter and Signer of the Declaration of Independence
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a
conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever; that a revolution of the wheel of fortune,
a change of situation, is among possible events; that it may become probable by Supernatural influence! The Almighty has no attribute
which can take side with us in that event."
— Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII, p. 237.
"I am a real Christian – that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ."
— The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, p. 385.
These are just a few of the quotes by our Founding Fathers. If you are interested in reading more quotes search the web for “Christian
Quotes of the Founding Fathers.”
What I am trying to say is that we are in times in which belief in God is not popular, with more and more people believing that Christians are
bigots and haters. We need to remember that we are to love all people as Jesus did. We need to remember that we are all sinners saved
by God’s grace.
Do we need to be concerned about what is going on in our country? Yes, but remember we serve a Sovereign God who is in control. We
need to make sure that we study the beliefs and programs of each and every candidate before we go to the polls. Do your homework but
most importantly, go vote. And make sure you encourage your friends and family to do the same. We need to take action and not just sit
by and wait on someone else. As proud Americans we should stand and support the principals and guidelines our great country was founded upon.
1 Chronicles 29:11-12 English Standard Version (ESV)
11 Yours,
O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth
is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. 12 Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over
all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. Whatever happens we know that God
is Sovereign and is in control.
Isaiah 46:9-10 English Standard Version (ESV)
9
remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 declaring the end from the
beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.’

Mark and Dolly Weldon also were excited to share that
their son, Christopher Weldon, graduated from East
Beauregard High School in May 2015.
Congratulations Christopher!
Dixie Darlins
Pictured is Annabella Weldon, the daughter of Mark and Dolly Weldon, I&E Designers in the ReCon office.
Annabella is a member of the Dixie Darlins, the top competition
dance group from Dance Stop Dance Centre in DeRidder, LA. She
has danced for 12 years and has been a Darlin for the last two
years.
The group attended the Fire & Ice regionals held the latter part of
March in Biloxi, Mississippi. The girls did fantastic! Their score was
Diamond (298 of a possible 300); they won first in the teen division and
they won the top award all weekend – the “Break the Ice” Award which
was best overall out of over 150 dance teams! Next they traveled to
Nationals in Gatlinburg, Tennessee July 8-12. The team won the Score
of Diamond (highest you can get!), Judges Choice Award, 3rd in their
division and they also qualified for the dance off where they won 3rd
overall! The girls represented their area well, and all of the parents are
very proud of them because they always receive compliments on how
respectful, polite and modest they are. Congratulations young ladies!
Blake Lee Perkins, grandson of Dolly
Ardoin, an employee at Westlake
Chemical, graduated from Sulphur
High School on May 14, 2015.
Congratulations Blake!
Alex Williams is the granddaughter of Gene Williams, an
employee CITGO. She recently graduated as Valedictorian
from Covent Grace Academy. She had a 4.0 GPA and will
attend LSU in the fall. Congratulations Alex for a job well
done!

Terry Haggard, an employee in our Sulphur office is proud of his
grandson, Chris Haggard, a pitcher for the Sam Houston Broncos.
On March 18, 2015, Chris made the front page of the sports section
of the Lake Charles American Press newspaper. According to the
article by Troy LaFleur, the night before he threw a complete-game,
three-hit shutout, and struck out six batters against St. Louis. Chris
faced 24 batters and threw just 76 pitches. LaFleur reported that
neither team committed an error and the game was over in 1 hour,
15 minutes. Great job Chris!
Megan Trahan, niece of Shalane Mead, an employee in our Sulphur office, has signed with McNeese State University to play softball. Megan is a third baseman who helped Kinder to the 2012
state quarterfinals. She’s also been a three-time all district and all
state selection and was all SWLA selection last season. First year
McNeese head softball coach Joanna Hardin noted, “Megan is
extremely versatile and athletic with one of the strongest arms in
the area with huge power potential. We look forward to her development and contribution to the softball program and expect great
things from her.” Congratulations Megan!
Blake Trahan is not only the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year,
he was picked up by the Cincinnati Reds in the third round Tuesday,
June 9th, but most importantly he is the nephew of Shalane Mead,
and the brother to Megan Trahan, mentioned in the article above.
As reported by Trey Iles of The Times-Picayune, Blake played shortstop for the University of Louisiana of Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns and has
a .315 batting average for the Cajuns in 2015 with 29 RBIs, two
home runs and 15 doubles. He also stole 17 bases and had a fielding percentage of .971.
Without a doubt, he was known as the Cajuns’ most best rounded
player, and is even considered one of the best in the country.
Blake is also known as a serving leader as he serves the team and he
serves the community. It’s been reported that he is that guy who you
can count on.
Best wishes for continued success with the Cincinnati Reds!
