Wehadafantastictimeat6 gradecampinSonora!6thgradestudentsarrivedinhistoric
ColombiaanddepartedforMercerCavernsbeforeheadinguptocamp.Studentsmixed
funandplaywithacademicsfromridingtheziplinetotakinganighthiketostudythestars
to“mountainmadness”.Theyalsolearnedhowtomakearrowheadsandstudiedowl
pellets.Aska6thgraderabouttheiradventureatcamp!Ifparentshavepicturestoshare,
pleaseposttotheJohnWashFacebookpage.Thisweekwecontinuetodrilldownin
curriculum.Bynowclassroomroutinesareinplaceandstudentsaresettledintothe

Inanefforttokeepourstudentsandstaffsafe,wenowrequireallvisitorstocheckintothe
officebeforeenteringcampus,evenifitisabriefvisit.Werealizethisisaninconvenience,
however,yourcooperationisnecessaryforthesafetyofall.WewelcomeallofourTigerfamilies
andfriendstobeapartofourcampusculture,butwedoaskthatyoucheckintotheofficeand
wearidentification.Thisincludesbeforeschool!TheTKandKinderareaisverycongested.
Again,ifyouwouldliketoremainoncampusuntilthebellrings,weaskthatyoucheckintothe

Constitution Day – September 16 th , 2016
OnSeptember17,1787,theUnitedStatesConstitutionwasratified.Thisspecialday
recognizestheadoptionoftheUSConstitutionandisdedicatedtoallUScitizens.In2004,the
Omnibusspendingbillwaspassedthatmandatesallpubliclyfundededucationalinstitutions
andallfederalagenciesprovideeducationalprogrammingonthehistoryoftheAmerican
Constitutiononthatday.ThisyearJohnWashStudentswillparticipateinconstitutionactivities
intheirclassrooms!
