Administrative Procedure 360 should follow this progression. 1. First, contact the subject Teacher here at New Norway School
(www.brsd.ab.ca/school/nnorway/SattInof/StaffDirectory/parentportal/Pages/default.aspx) and/or look at that teacher’s markbook, using the
portal (www.brsd.ab.ca/school/nnorway/Parents/parentportal/Pages/default.aspx) 2. Second, get in touch with our NNS Assessment Lead
Teacher (Mrs. Lopes - [email protected] ) and 3. Third, contact your School Principal Mr. Sieben - [email protected]
Sadly the Senior Boys Spartan’s season came to a close on the March 8th, 9th weekend. . . . with only one loss this weekend, pushing the
undefeated , number one seed in the zone and 6th in the province to overtime, we had our chances, provincials were in our grasp, but slipped away .
. . the Spartans did not walk away empty handed though, they captured the bronze medal for the central zone, proved the rankers wrong and beat
Hay Lakes one more time! and capped off a truly magical season that found our boys post the best league record in 9 years, a tournament championship countless Bronze medals , Showed they could compete with any 1A team in the province and an incredible trip to San Diego, special recognition goes out to our big group of grade 12’s that leave us this season . . . Carl K., Austin K., Ty W., Dakota S., Andrew T., Ryan F., Davin F.,
Joedy D., and Bryten J. thank you boys for all your sacrifice for our school over the past years, I am truly proud of our entire team, it was an
honour and a pleasure . . . thank you from the bottom of my heart . . . Mr. Searle
The weekend of March 8th and 9th, our Senior Lady Spartans wrapped up a very successful basketball season, bringing home bronze medals
from the CASAA Zone Championship held in Castor, Alberta. Although the goal of our Spartans was to be playing in Provincials, the fact remains
that this past season will be remembered as a resounding success. Last season our Lady Spartans failed to qualify for the Area play downs and this
year they medal at Zones….a terrific improvement. Next year we go the distance. Thanks to all you have contributed to this great season. Our
parents, scorekeepers, our teachers, but most of all our coach Greg Sjogren. Your commitment, drive and dedication kept us focused and you made
our season a lot of fun. We are already excited for next year. Mr. Nester
The February New Norway School (Parent) Council Meeting was held on February 26th, 2013. Mr. Sieben reviewed the recent
directives by Dr. Payne on Administrative Procedure 360. According to this information, full implementation of the new system of assessment, which is already in place in elementary and junior high, will be mandatory at the high school level by fall
of 2014 and optional prior to that. Parent/Guardian and student feedback on the date of implementation would be encouraged and appreciated. All are welcome to attend the next meeting on Tuesday, March 26th, 2013 @ 7:00 pm in our school
library. School (Parent) Council will also be hosting soup and a bun at a cost of $2.00/person on Friday, March 22nd, 2013.

Europe 2013 Thank you for your support for the last two years in helping the students gather funds for their trip that is fast approaching. Watch
the newsletter in June for instruction on how to follow our trip’s progress on line. There will be daily posts on line about what we are up to for the
day and pictures too. You can still join us on the trip, but the opportunity is soon over. Please go to Explorica.ca and go to the link Join a tour.
From here look for the Kvill—5972 tour that leaves in July from Edmonton.
HSSU Fundraiser: Thank you too all who supported our effort to raise funds for Q-drums by guessing the number of jelly beans in the jar. Together we raised $50.00. The winner of the jelly beans was Brison B. with a guess of 722, only one off the actual 723 in the jar. The HSSU is
planning our Spring Fling event that will occur before the break at the end of March. Mrs. Kvill
