Gobble, gobble everybody,
Thanksgiving is just around the corner!!! It
is a the time to reunite with your family
once again and eat the delicious
Thanksgiving meal.
The food smells
delicious and the
weather outside is

us for the winter up

time has come for us to give thanks for all
the blessings that we have accumulated
during the year, but let us remember that
everyday that we live is special and that we
should always be thankful for everything
not just on Thanksgiving Day.
A reason why we should be thankful
this Thanksgiving is because our Junior
High and Elementary UIL did their very
best this past Tuesday and Thursday when
they led the Cotton Center Elks in a third
place victory. Congratulations guys!!! Each

A friend is like...
A friend is like a flower,
a rose to be exact,
Or maybe like a brand new gate

Or perhaps a friend is like a ghost,

A friend is like a heart that goes

I know it hurts but please dry
your eyes.
I will give to you whatever you
need;
A hug, a kiss, just tells me
please.
To see you cry is a terrible sight;
Just let me love you and I'll hold you tight.
I'll do anything you want to make you proud;
I'll climb the highest peak and yell your name aloud.

I love you too much to see you cry;
Please sweetheart don't say goodbye.

If we must truly say goodbye;
One more time just close your eyes.
Though wakefulness my domain
In sleep I remain,
For wakefulness is sleep

To gently wipe away your tears.
And let us share one final kiss;
For you are the love, I will forever miss.

Well it is that time of year
again when the leaves change
color, the air begins to get cooler,
and Thanksgiving is right around
the corner. I can’t wait to gather
around the table with my family
and dig in to whatever my
grandma has decided to cook.
While I’m waiting for that moment

isn’t much to do. Card games

Have any of you gone into the
administration building to deal with some
business and been greeted by a very kind,
cheerful woman? Well, that woman’s name
is Gayla Faye Nance Sanders, and she’s the
business manager of the administration
building.
She was born in Levelland, Texas.
She graduated from Sundown High School,
and she went to college for business and
fashion design. It is no coincidence that she
looks amazing every single time that I go in
there!
Now, out of all the colors in the
world, her favorite is most definitely the
color purple. Some of the things that Mrs.
Sanders enjoys the most would include,
cooking, sewing, her grandkids, decorating
and doing crafts. When Mrs. Sanders was
younger she wanted to be a fashion designer,
because she enjoys creating things and
bringing them to life. Besides she says she
loves to SHOP!!
Mrs. Sanders has three girls, Shatan,
Amanda, and Melissa. She also has three
granddaughters and three grandsons. I
asked her the question, “Do you love your
grandchildren more than your own
children?”to clear out that certain myth,
and her answer was, “I love my
grandchildren with all of my heart and I
love them just as much as I love my
daughters.” “They’re the light of my life.”
Alright, well you are probably asking
yourself, what exactly does she do as
secretary of the administration building?
Well that’s a very good question, and the
Page 10
answer is none other than what does she not
do? Mrs. Sanders does payroll, payables, all
forms of the record keeping, and many other
things, but right now she is mostly working
on straightening a lot of the paper work and
learning about school systems. I asked her
if she enjoys her job, and her reply was
“YES”!! She says that she enjoys a good
challenge and that her job right now is
definitely challenging.
Alright, I was just curious enough to
want to know what part about the
Thanksgiving dinner is the most difficult to
cook. Mrs. Sanders believes that the turkey
by far is the most difficult because some
times it’s hard to know whether it is going
to be too dry or overly cooked.
Mrs. Sanders enjoys Thanksgiving
because she has some opportunities for her
family to gather and stay up late cooking
and just visiting once again. She also likes
the day after Thanksgiving because all of
her daughters go shopping at 4 a.m. to get
hold of all those sales, and also because they
decorate their house for Christmas.
