28th April 2017
Dear Parents,Carers and Friends,
It’s always a great way to start off a new school term with a visit out of school to excite and
engage children in a new project. Yesterday all our reception children went on a visit to Monk
Park farm where they got to see bulls, cows, swans, pigs and wallabies; stroke guinea pigs and
feed new born lambs and goats. The children, after having observed the hatching of chicks in
their classes last term, got the opportunity to learn even more about the natural world and the
environment around them.
School trips are always tiring and yesterday was no exception. The children and their teachers
all arrived back at school having had a wonderful day but all looking quite exhausted, a
combination perhaps of being outside all day in the fresh air, the stimulation of experiencing
lots of new things and a warm, relaxing coach ride back to Ripon. The trip will provide the
stimulus for learning across all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and I
look forward to seeing the children engaged in farm and animal related activities over the next
few weeks.
Nursery News
This week we say "hello" to some new friends in Nursery.
Welcome to Samuel, Lucas, Rubi, Layla, Taylon and Chase.
We have been thinking about and singing some of the rhymes
we know. "The Wheels on the Bus" was a favourite so next
week this will be our "rhyme of the week." The letter of the
week is Nn.
We will be developing our play linked to our theme, thinking
about places we can go to on a bus, remembering different
places the children have been and lots of other vehicle related
ideas. We will be making up new words to this song too
thinking about the bikes that will be visiting Ripon on The Tour
de Yorkshire and the diggers we have been watching at school.
You can watch and sing-along at BBC school radio nursery
songs-

We are sorry to be saying goodbye today to
Mrs Wells who finishes working with us as a
teaching assistant in Mrs Ferguson’s class.
Mrs Wells is returning to Devon with her
family after having lived there in the past. We
wish her and her family all the very best and
thank her for all she has done for us here at
school.
Church Hall Building
Values
This half-term our focus for Collective Worship will be
‘Helping’. Every half-term, we focus on a different one
of the six Christian values that are at the heart of all we
do here at Holy Trinity CE Infant School and Nursery.
We shall be reading and acting out stories from the
Bible which portray helpfulness and also be especially
observant of the different ways that our children help
one another and their teachers around school. We are
also keen to hear how the children help you at home, so
if you’re feeling especially proud of your child’s
thoughtfulness, please let us know so that we too can
celebrate them being helpful children.
We have some beautiful photographs taken by Mr
Kendall around school portraying our six values and are
delighted that we now have some new ones taken by
Mr Kendall before Easter which will be used on our new
school website which we hope will be launched in the
next few weeks.
Money Matters
We would really
appreciate it if you
could take a moment
to check your
ParentPay accounts
and settle any
outstanding amounts.
Thank you.
Church Notices
Holy Trinity Church warmly welcomes
you to our services, especially any
visitors. Once there you will be able to
find out more about the fun
opportunities for your child.
The demolition of the Church Hall was a little
delayed during the Easter holidays due to an
electrical issue which while being quickly resolved,
has led to the removal of the rubble having to be
done during the school day. Thank you to all parents
and carers for your co-operation with this at the
start and end of the school day and to the children
especially, whose playtime space has been quite
drastically reduced due to the protective fencing
taking up a large chunk of the playground. I am
pleased to say that they have continued to play
happily together outside without bumping into each
other. I have also been impressed with how well the
children have maintained their focus and
concentration during lessons in spite of the
excitement and noise happening just outside their
classroom windows.
We are working closely with Mr Saye, the project
manager of the build, to enable the children to be
involved with the different stages taking place on
the building site. Mr Saye has promised us a visit
from ‘Ivor Goodsite’ who will present an assembly in
May on how to keep safe on a building site as well
as brick laying demonstrations and other
construction skills and tips. Mr Saye also joined us
for our first assembly of the new term so he could
meet the children and explain about the work taking
place. We no doubt now, will have many younger
builders in their hard hats, with their bricks and
trowels copying the work going on above them and
now that the rubble has been taken away, we
eagerly await to see what the next stage will be.
