Boise City Energy Code. The specifications shall show in sufficient detail pertinent data and features of the building and the
equipment and systems, including, but not limited to: design criteria, exterior envelope component materials, U values of
the envelope systems, R values of insulating materials, size and type of apparatus and equipment, equipment and systems
controls and other pertinent data to indicate comformance with the requirements of the energy code. (Boise City Code 4-02
-26 A.d) Provide documentation of compliance with the perscriptive path or accompany a WATTSUN or MECHECK printout.
4

garages where they may be subjected to mechanical damage shall be suitably guarded against such damage by being
installed behind protective barriers or by being elevated or located out of the normal path of vehicles. (1997 UMC 304.9)
See the Mechanical Inspector for approved protection methods.
5
GARAGE PLATFORM - Heating and cooling equipment located in a garage and which generates a glow, spark, or flame
capable of igniting flammable vapors shall be installed with the pilots and burners or heating elements and switches at least
18 inches above the floor level. (1997 UMC 303.1.3)
6
ADDRESS NUMBERS - Post approved address numbers in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street

Address numbers are required to be posted prior to any inspection.
7
FIRE BLOCKING - In combustible construction fire blocking shall be provided (1) In concealed spaces of stud walls and
partitions, including furred spaces, at the ceiling and floor levels and at 10-foot intervals both vertical and horizontal, (2) At
all interconnections between concealed vertical and horizontal spaces such as occur at soffits, drop ceilings and cove
ceilings, (3) In concealed spaces between stair stringers at the top and bottom of the run and between studs along and in
line with the run of stairs if the walls under the stairs are unfinished, (4) In openings around vents, pipes, ducts, chimneys,
fireplaces and similar openings which afford a passage for fire at ceiling and floor levels, with noncombustible materials,
and (5) at openings between attic spaces and chimney chases for factory-built chimneys. (1997 UBC 708.2.1) Where fire
blocks are allowed to be of combustible materials, fireblocking shall consist of 2 inches nominal lumber or two thicknesses
of 1-inch nominal lumber with broken lap joints or one thickness of 23/32-inch wood structural panel with joints backed by
23/32-inch wood structural panel. Fire blocks may also be gypsum board, cement fiber board, batts or blankets of mineral
or glass fiber, or other approved materials installed in such a manner as to be securely retained in place. (1997 UBC
