Your December 25 Paycheck
Christmas Party
December 25, 2013 is our last payday of the year.
Pacific Press Publishing Association offices will be
closed when that payroll is run.
Sunday evening was a time of celebration as the
Pacific Press family, along with many of our friends,
gathered to share a holiday meal together. The
Nampa Civic Center did a great job of preparing the
facility and the meal for us. The 4th Dimension
provided the evening’s entertainment, with four-part
harmony that set the holiday mood. Thank you to
the Social Committee members for their work in
making it all happen!
Checks will be electronically transferred to
bank accounts for all those set up to do
electronic transfer. Advice slips for all
electronic transfers will be handed out the
following Monday, December 30, 2013.
Electronic transfer will be on Tuesday the
24th of December and checks will be
mailed on Monday, December 23, 2013 for
those who are not on electronic transfer.
All ABC employees’ paychecks and advice
slips will be handled as usual and will be
mailed on Monday, December 23, 2013.
Special Guest: Dr. Joe Wheeler
Dr. Joe Wheeler will join us for our Christmas
chapel on Monday, December 16. Come and listen
to Dr. Wheeler read a story from his new book and
help us celebrate Christmas together.
A selection of Dr. Wheeler’s books will be available
at chapel for your convenience. A signup sheet will
ensure you receive the special employee’s discount
available at this time each year.
This would make an awesome Christmas gift and
Dr. Wheeler’s signature autographs make it even
more special.

India Mission
Marvin Moore (Product
Development) and his wife,
Lois, have gone on a threeweek short-term mission
trip to India once a year for
the past 7 or 8 years. While
in India, they hold
evangelistic meetings and offer health services.
This year they also hope to build ten churches.
This coming Friday, December 13, they will be
featured as guests on “3ABN Today.” In the
interview, they share their experience and
encourage Adventist viewers to become short-term
missionaries. The program times are 7:00 a.m.,
2:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m.
Safety First – Holiday Decorating
When spraying artificial snow on
windows or other surfaces, be
sure to follow directions carefully. These
sprays can irritate your lungs if you
inhale them.
Small children may think holiday plants look
good enough to eat, but many plants may
cause severe stomach problems or can even
be poisonous. Plants to watch out for include:
mistletoe, holly berries, Jerusalem cherry and
amaryllis. Keep all of these plants out of
children's reach.
Avoid placing breakable tree ornaments or
ones with small, detachable parts on lower
branches where small children or pets can
reach them.
If you use an artificial tree, choose one that is
tested and labeled as fire resistant. Artificial
trees with built-in electrical systems should
have the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) label.
Only use indoor lights indoors (and outdoor
lights only outdoors). Look for the UL label.
Check lights for broken or cracked sockets,
frayed or bare wires, and loose connections.
Replace or repair any damaged light sets.
Use no more than three light sets on any one
extension cord. Extension cords should be
placed against the wall to avoid tripping
hazards, but do not run cords under rugs,
around furniture legs or across doorways.
Turn off all lights on trees and decorations
when you go to bed or leave the house.
Unplug extension cords when not in use.

Are you not feeling well?
Do you have a fever?
Are you coughing?
If you answered “Yes”
to any of these, you
may have the flu.
Please do NOT come to work if
you are sick with fever AND cough or sore
throat. This is the time to stay home on paid
leave/extended sick leave. The Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend
sick employees stay home if they experience any of
the flu symptoms until at least 24 hours after they
are free from signs of a fever. Remember your coworkers may get sick easily, and you don’t want to
start spreading viruses and infections.
Symptoms of the flu: ACHES, CHILLS, COUGH,
DIARRHEA, FATIGUE, FEVER, FLUSHED,
HEADACHE, PAINS, RUNNY NOSE, SORE
THROAT, SUDDEN, VIRUS, VOMIT, WATERY
EYE, WEAKNESS
