DAVE FULKERSON Dave Fulkerson is the most successful coach in Boerne ISD history with six state championships (03, 04, 08, 09, 11, 12) and a national title under his belt (09). There were a lot of firsts for Fulkerson who is now retired. He led the 2003 and 2004 Boerne High boys cross country teams to state championships and was the first coach at BISD to ever lead a unit to a state team title. The 2004 team was also the first to repeat as state champions. When Boerne Champion opened in 2008, Fulkerson led the boys team to the state title for the first championship in school history. The Chargers repeated in 2009 and that unit was the first to ever repeat at the school. Also, the 2009 team made more history by winning the Nike Cross Nationals held in Oregon that December to give Fulkerson a national title. Fulkerson again won back-to-back state titles after he led the 2011 and 2012 Champion boys teams to championships at the state cross country meet in the fall. Fulkerson was the first Boerne ISD coach to win state team titles at both Boerne High and Boerne Champion and actually has seven state titles to his credit. He also won a state championship before coming to Boerne when he was coaching in Hawaii.
