Should the US Raise Their Federal Minimum Wage?

All across the United States, people are debating if they want the federal minimum wage to be raised. The
current minimum wage throughout the US is $7.25 per hour. Some people are saying they want that wage doubled,
and they want the US to make it $15 an hour. About 21% of Trump supporters would like to raise minimum wage,
and 82% of Clinton supporters would like to raise minimum wage. Currently, 29 States including the district of
Columbia, have a minimum wage greater than $7.25. Jobs that are paid at minimum wage include, fast food workers,
construction workers, and grocery store workers.
Some people believe that these people do not deserve more than $7.25. Some people cannot get a better job
because they don’t have the education for a job that pays higher than minimum wage. This is a big issue because
people working full time on minimum wage struggle to support their families. This leads to poverty, and this is why
people think that the US should raise their federal minimum wage.
Donald Trump’s Inauguration

On Friday, January 20th, Donald John Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of The United States. The
event began at 11:00 AM in Washington D.C. which is the capital city of America.
Just like when he was running for president, he was very honest with his speech. He talked about past
presidents talking about issues, but not solving them in front of everyone. Afterward, people protested the streets in
many big cities. This showed that many people were angry about the outcome and the finalization of it, but others
have hope for Trump and hope for his years running the White House.
Hello, Mr. Trump

Friday, January 20th, 2017. A new day and a new President for America! Donald John Trump, born June
14th, 1946, to father Fred and mother Mary, in New York, New York, became president. As a young businessman he
went to UPenn, Fordham University, and Wharton School of Finance. He has had many children with multiple wives.
His kids include Barron, Tiffany, Eric, Ivanka, and Donald Jr. His previous wives were Marla and Ivana. He’s
currently married to Melania. ​ He has multiple hotels called ​Trump International Hotel and Tower. ​ With being a
Billionaire he had cameo appearances in multiple movies. Everyone welcome our new President.

Clemson Wins The Championship

The Clemson Tigers win against Alabama with the score of 35-31. Alabama was in the lead but Clemson pulled ahead
with their stunning offense. With five seconds left in the fourth quarter, Clemson had the ball, and they were losing by three.
Although Alabama had a great defense, Clemson was able to complete a three yard pass for a touchdown. Time ran out, and
Clemson was victorious.
Alabama was the favored team because of their
defense and they are known to win, a lot. Clemson came in
as the underdogs. Last year in the national championship
game, Alabama won the game 45-40 against Clemson. This
game was a rematch. Alabama had an undefeated record
for the entire football season until Clemson handed them
this loss.
The best player in the game was the Clemson
Quarterback, DeShawn Watson. He threw for 420 yards
and three touchdowns. He also didn’t throw any
interceptions. Clemson scored 21 points in the 4th quarter,
compared to 7 by Alabama to win the game.
Trap Shooting

Trap season is starting in Hartford at the Hartford Conservation and Gun Club. Trap is a really fun sport
where you are with four other people, and you all take turns shooting. When it is your turn, you get your feet set and
when you are ready you yell, “Pull!” When you do this, a five-inch-wide orange disk flies out, and you shoot at it.
They have adult teams and kid teams, and if you are a new shooter, you will be put with other people that are
at your same level as you. Also, if you are a beginner, there will be a coach there to help you along the way. You can
even buy shells there for your gun. Also, they recently put an addition onto the building, so while you are waiting for
it to be your turn to shoot with four other people, you can wait and hang out with your friends. So you should come
and shoot stuff. It’s really fun!
Falcons win over the Packers

In a battle to go to the Super Bowl, the Falcons came out firing. They scored their opening
drive, cutting through the Packers defense like it was butter. Mohamed Sanu Jr. scored their first
touchdown with a little shovel pass in the endzone. The Packers came down the field and brought it
inside the 40. Mason Crosby lined up for a field goal and then shanked the 41 yard field goal. The
score stood at 7-0 Falcons on top.
Of course Matt Ryan and the Falcons offense once again moved the chains and later kicked a
28 yard field goal. Then Aaron Ripkowski was having a great carry and broke five tackles, but then
the Falcons punched the ball out and then the Falcons recovered it. Falcons plowed over the Packers
and Matt Ryan ran in untouched. Now the score was 17-0.
The Packers then went in for a pathetic drive that was 3 and out. After that, Matt Ryan once
again threw for a 5 yard touchdown to Julio James. Jones after the half scored again in less than a
minute with a 73 yard touchdown. Packers actually scored, on a 2 yard pass to Davante Adams who
WAS hot lately in the past couple games. The Falcons got their running back in the game and threw
him a touchdown pass and now the score was 37-7.
Jordy Nelson caught one to answer back and scored the 2 point conversion so the score was
37-15. Now the other running back for Atlanta got involved and had a 3 yard rushing TD, which
brought the score to 44-15. Finally, the last score of the game was Jared Cook who got a 1 yard
passing TD and the final score was 44-21.

Nine Lives Review

Kali’s Review
I recently watched the movie Nine Lives and I thought it was pretty good. I recommend
families to watch it with their youngsters as it is a feel good movie or PG. There were
lots of full hearted moments, and you might even start crying. And, it even had a fun twist at the very end. This movie will teach
you to appreciate your cat. Multiple times during it, I picked up mine, hugged her tight, and said, “I love you just the way you
are. Please don’t change.” The star I took off was for fake acting. A few times it got pretty cheesy. I just had to remember it was
for the younger audience sometimes. At one point, I realized that I was sitting at the edge of my couch seat and forgetting to
blink. A few times, I even started crying. I don’t want to give the end away, but let’s just say you’ll be surprised. It also featured
many key actors and actresses. I couldn’t imagine the movie without like Jennifer Garner who was the mom, Christopher
Walken as the cat shop owner, Kevin Spacey as the dad, and lots more. Small bits of humor also kept the story line interesting.
Ava’s Review
When I watched this movie, I thought that it was a movie definitely meant for kids younger than
me. But, I did like it, so I gave the movie 3 stars for being an okay movie. I thought some of the
actors/actresses weren’t Grammy Award Winning level (well in my book). I thought that some moments were also very cheesy
and sad, while some parts for me were also very funny. I wouldn’t spend money to buy a copy of the movie, but it is worth it for
a cheap rental.

Better Graphics with ZOTAC Mini Nvidia GTX 1080

About the company
Zotac is a company that deals in tech. They make graphics cards
(or rather, take the graphics card that Nvidia or AMD makes and
modify the looks of it, as most other companies do), SSDs,
accessories, motherboards, and some prebuilt PCs.
What is the 1080?
The Nvidia GTX 1080 is the latest, and most powerful graphics
card on the market right now. Why spend over $500 on a single
graphics card? Because it could run basically any game you
throw at it at max settings for multiple years to come.
What is so special about the ZOTAC 1080
Their latest adventure, however, was making the latest and most powerful graphics card is the GTX 1080, just in a mini form.
This means it is smaller than the normal one. This allows people who don’t have a smaller case the ability to harness the massive
capabilities of the fastest gpu, in a mini size. But, if they can make it smaller, then why wouldn’t all the companies, there must
be some drawback to getting this mini size. Because it doesn’t have as many fans, or as big of anything, it has to cut down on its
overclocking abilities. Overclocking is when the gpu (or cpu) enters a faster state. This generates much more heat, however is
much faster. This 1080 with only 2 fans, can’t overclock nearly as well as something like the ASUS STRIX 1080 with 3 fans.
Conclusion
If you want a 1080 for the power it holds, but didn’t want to have the massive space taken away from you by a larger case, then
this might be your best bet, considering it does have some overclocking capabilities, and is expected to otherwise have the same
amount of power as the 1080. However, the release date is still not revealed, and it cannot be purchased quite yet.

Super Bowl Appetizer Ideas

With the Super Bowl coming up on February 5th, many people have the same question on their minds: What
do I make for appetizers? Whether you’re throwing a party or coming to one, these perfect ideas will leave mouths
watering the entire game! We decided to see exactly how easy these recipes are and share our results with you. We
don’t have exact prep times because we were working on all three at once, but we will do our best to say how long
each recipe will probably take you!
Idea One: ​Greek Pita Cups

Our try:​ The recipe said that the prep time is about 30 minutes, but it didn’t take us that long. We would recommend
putting the pita in the oven for about 7 minutes because we only did 5, and it didn’t hold together very well. This
recipe probably took us about 20 minutes total and is perfect for throwing something together last minute. The pitas
we bought were sort of small, so we split them into fourths (instead of sixths). There was also plenty of hummus left
over, so you don’t have to buy a full 17 oz. container. We would totally make these again.
Idea Two: ​Super Bowl Snackadium

Our try: The recipe told us that the prep time was about 4.5 hours, it only took us about 2 hours. We would
recommend to let the rice crispies harden on a cookie sheet and parchment paper before you add it on the cake. This
definitely is not a last minute recipe. We would make this again in a heartbeat.
Idea Three: ​Pizza Pull-Apart Bread

Our try:​ This was by far the easiest of the recipes. We started rolling out the dough and realized that we didn’t have
any loaf pans at the moment, so we did something slightly different. We spread all of the ingredients on the dough,
then rolled it up and put it in the oven. If you plan on doing this, I believe we baked it for about 20 minutes. This dish
is also very quick and easy if the game is about to start.
Super Snacks

Every year, the biggest event in football comes around, The Super Bowl. I think the snacks are the
best part of the game, so here are a few recipies!
1. Chunky Guacamole
Finely chop 1 small white onion and 1 serrano chile. Mix with 1 cup torn cilantro, 3 diced avocados,
the juice of 2 limes and salt to taste.
2. Queso Dip
Cook 1 tablespoon each butter and flour in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring, 1 minute. Stir in
1/2 pound shredded cheddar and 1/4 cup each cream cheese, milk and jarred salsa until smooth.
3. Kettle Corn
Put 3/4 cup popcorn kernels and 3 tablespoons sugar and 3 tablespoons vegetable oil in a large
heavy-bottomed pot. Partially cover and cook over high heat, shaking, until the popping stops.
Season with salt.
4​. Cookie Bites
1 pound of chocolate sandwich cookies, Crushed (double stuffed)
1 (8oz) softened package of cream cheese
1 pound vanilla-flavored candy coating, melted
In a large mixing bowl, combine crushed cookies and cream cheese to form a stiff dough. Roll into
balls and dip with a fork in melted candy coating. Let rest on waxed paper until set.
5. C​hesapeake Snack Mix
In a large bowl, toss in 5 cups potato chips, 2 cups oyster crackers, 2 cups fish-shaped cheese
crackers and 2 cups pretzel sticks, 1/2 stick melted butter and 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning. Bake
at 350 degrees F, 25 minutes, stirring once.
