PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity of attending the
Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Summit along with three
amazing teachers, Mrs. Berkley, Mrs. Weber and Mrs. Williamson. You
may hear the acronym “PLC” used throughout Fremont Unified School
District as instructional staff participate in an unprecedented level of
collegial collaboration. Your child’s teacher has been meeting with
grade-alike instructors since August to engage in focused
conversations about student learning. As we continue on the PLC path,
we look to answer the following four critical questions:
1.
2.
3.
4.
What do we expect our students to learn?
How will we know when each student has learned it?
How will we respond when some students do not learn it?
How will we respond when some already know it?
Here at Niles, teachers have focused on how we can best support our
students using common assessment data and shared successful
instructional strategies. In July, four more Niles teachers will attend a
PLC Institute, and will return in August inspired and ready to share
what they have learned.
Centerville Junior High School staff will visit with our sixth grade
students next week to discuss coursework, expectations, and what it is
like to be a junior high school student. It is hard to believe that we will
be celebrating the completion of elementary school with these students
in just four months.
Lastly, mark your calendars for this year’s Bulldog Jog which will take
place on April 14th.
Enjoy the lovely weather and three day weekend.
