School Mission
Data Summary
1. High Academic Expectations (literacy and numeracy; content knowledge; globally
competitive skills)
2. Multiple Pathways (personalized learning & leveraging technology)
3. Social – Emotional Development (SE learning strategies, RSN behavior, school/community
activities, learning environments)
4. Culture of Growth & Excellence (Building capacity, partnerships with stakeholders,
culture of respect)
Our mission is to develop confident leaders of tomorrow. Student-centered authentic tasks
will be the focus in our environment where it is safe to take risks, solve problems and
challenge ourselves. Life-long learners will be ready to navigate and build a better world
through innovative and engaging experiences for both students and teachers. Relationships
are fostered and strengthened through collaboration and mutual respect, where students
can focus on purposeful real-world applications of knowledge.
Do you want to play it safe and be good or take a risk and be great? We will not let good get
in the way of great (Good to Great –Jim Collins). Excellence is our tradition!
Overall, JBD is a high achieving community with strong students and active parents. Free and
Reduced lunch rate is at 15% and we currently have approximately 300 military connected
students. During the last two years, the focus has been on small group instruction,
differentiation, and the integration of STEM into the curriculum with more hands-on and
discovery learning types of experiences.
