Langlade County Junior League A‐Team Rules If these modified rules do not cover a certain situation, refer to the official Little League Rule Book 1. Player’s Age: up to and including age 15 on or before May 1 of the current season. 2. Manager/Coach Age: Manager (coaches) must be adults at least 18 years of age or older. 3. Season: a. Season shall start during the month of May. b. The play‐offs will end the season with all teams included with play‐off schedule attached to the season schedule. 4. Playoffs: a. Each coach is to nominate three (3) players from their team for the all‐star game. b. Collections taken during the play‐offs (pass the hat) will go to the Langlade County Junior League fund for use in the next year. 5. Umpires: Visiting team is to furnish the base umpire. Home team is to furnish the home plate umpire. (Responsible person should be picked by team manager and be at least 18 years old unless agreed upon by both coaches). 6. Grievance: Each manager/Coach should present any grievance in letterform, and pay a $5.00 fee, to the grievance committee, within 24 hours following the game. The league President should also be contacted. 7. Trophies: All division winners to receive trophy and trophies will be awarded to first (1st) through fourth (4th) place finish in play‐offs (limit of 15 trophies per team). 8. Equipment: a. Bases: It is mandatory for a double bag at first base. The runner must use the outside (orange) bag, and the fielder must use the inside (white) bag, if being played upon. b. Baseballs: Home team will furnish (3) baseballs. c. Catching equipment: All catchers must wear a skull cap and throat protector unless it is already built in. d. Baseball Caps: All players except the catcher must wear a baseball cap. e. Bats: Maximums are (33) inches long and two and five eighths (2 5/8) inch barrel. Wooden bats are acceptable, all bats must be bb‐core approved. f. Cleats: Metal spikes are allowed. g. Helmets: All batters and runners must wear protective helmet. If under 18 and coaching protective helmet must be worn at all times. 9. Roster: a. The team roster including the player’s names and birth dates must be sent to the league secretary no later than the week before the first game is played. A copy of the roster must also be kept inside the official team scorebook. b. You may play the game with no fewer than 8 players. You may finish the game with less than 8 if an injury occurs during the game. c. Each player on the roster must play a minimum of 7 games during the regular season to be able to play in the tournament (unless unable to play due to an injury). 10. Field Regulations: A‐teams will play on a modified diamond with the following specifications: a. Mound: The distance between home plate and the pitching mound will be 54’. b. Base distance: 75’ bases. c. Outfield: It is recommended that the outfield be 300’. Last modified: 3/8/2017 11. Game Times & Regulations: a. Start Time: i. The home team will relinquish the diamond by 6pm. ii. Games should start by 6:15pm. iii. If the visiting team does not show up by 6:30pm it is considered a forfeit. b. Time Limits: i. There will be a time limit with no inning to start after 8:30pm c. Run Rule: Each team may only score 10 runs in one (1) inning – playoffs included. There will be a 10 run rule after 5 innings. d. Weather/Darkness: i. During play: In case of inclement weather or darkness the official game may be called after the end of four (4) complete innings, or three and one‐half (3 ½) innings ‐ if the home team is winning. ii. Prior to play: In case of a cancellation, you should notify the other team at least two (2) hours before game time. 12. Pitching & Pitcher Requirements: a. Any combination of 15 year olds may pitch a maximum of 2 consecutive innings per game from either a 54’ or 60’ mound (if a 60’ mound is available); this must be agreed upon by the coaches prior to play. b. A 15 year old may pitch until he turns 16 years of age. Once the player has his 16th birthday he can no longer pitch. c. Delivery of a single pitch constitutes having pitched in an inning. d. If a player pitches in less than 5 innings, one calendar day of rest is mandatory. e. If a player pitches in 5 or more innings, 3 calendar days of rest must be observed. f. A player may pitch in a maximum of 10 innings in a calendar week (Sunday through Saturday is considered a calendar week). g. There is a five (5) pitch maximum between innings. h. During tournament play, Friday will start a new week for pitching rules. i. The pitcher’s glove shall be uniform in color, including all stitching, lacing, and webbing. The pitcher’s glove may not be white or gray or have any foreign material attached to it. j. The pitcher may not wear any white or gray long sleeves or wristbands. k. Coaches must sign the score book after each game, for recording the number of innings pitched. 13. Base Runners: a. A player MUST avoid intentional contact at any base, if not, he/she will be called out and there will be a mandatory ejection. b. No sliding headfirst unless returning to a base. c. The runner may lead off at any time. d. You can steal home. e. If the catcher drops the ball on the third (3rd) strike, the batter may run to first base (as if the ball was hit), only if first (1st) base is unoccupied. 14. Re‐entry Rules: a. A pitcher that is pulled and leaves the field can re‐enter in any position except pitcher. b. A pitcher that stays in the game in another position can return to the pitching position. c. Any starter re‐entering the game MUST do so in the same batting order he/she started at. Last modified: 3/8/2017
