Changing Lives for Good
A mother and her son – Restored through Love
I was hanging out with the wrong
friends and looking to fix holes
in my soul only God could mend.
I moved to the Bullhead area in
Arizona where my mother and her
new husband owned an automotive
repair shop. During this time my
connection to my mom completely
fell apart. I was frustrated that my
mom had married Jim, a friend
I worked with.
My drinking, drugs, and strained
relationships had me near the
breaking point, and I chose to run.
I moved to Northern California
and did not talk to my mom for a
couple of months. My problem was,
there was no escaping from myself,
and it was me who needed a serious
transformation.
At the urging of my mother and
Jim, I decided to go to the Life
Recovery Program, and I found a
new family. I began to really care
for others in the program.
The most amazing things that
happen in life are often changes
that we do not see at first. I did
not realize that my deep frustration
and inability to have lasting
relationships was because I so
badly needed a relationship with
God. As I found a relationship
with Jesus, other relationships
began to find balance. My deepest
relationship needs were answered
by Jesus. I no longer feel the need
to place demands on others.
Today, I am a graduate, an intern,
and a house leader at the mission.
I stayed on as an intern to learn the
functions of the mission and the
outreach programs so I will be able
to begin a ministry in Arizona with
my mother and with Jim.
When I face difficult issues in the
house, my mom offers wise counsel
and helps me see a different
point of view. Our relationship is
healthier than it has ever been.
I tell her I love her when I hang up
the phone and those words have a
new depth and meaning. ~ Earl
New Hope From Earl’s Mom
I am so amazed every time I talk with Earl and see the growth in
his life. Believe me; since his father passed away, it has been hard
to watch him go through everything. I knew he was not the child
I raised. I did not even know who this person was that called
himself my son. The tears, the prayers, the heart break, just about
killed me. I knew if I just trusted Our Father, He would take care
of him. I love the growth in Earl and in me. I know that, through
the help of the mission and forgiveness, we can be close again.
I am so proud of what Earl has done and continues to do. I knew
my marriage to Jim would be painful for Earl, but now I feel God
bringing us together, restoring joy. ~ Beth

To: You
From: Me, a homeless one
“I am the one you helped today with your donation.
It was my first time to the mission. I was given some
supplies and information. Then they invited me to the
meal, and I heard them praying and saying they were
so happy to be serving me. I didn’t know how to take
the generosity at first, then someone said, “God Bless
You”, and that resonated. I found myself reminded
of words I have heard spoken, “God loves you”. Now
I can see a glimmer of hope that this life I felt stuck
in can change, and my future is that much brighter
because you cared. Thank you.” – A homeless one
This is the message of hope we share every day here
at the mission. This is the reason we continue to reach
out to those in need. It is the personal relationship
that opens the door for guests to accept help and
change their lives. Thank you for your donations. Your
support helps us offer a hand up, an opportunity to
reach the hurting, hungry, and homeless here in the
Victor Valley.
