Approval to Reduce the Existing Posted Speed Limit on Chase Road from
Winter Garden Vineland Road to Jack Nicklaus Parkway from 55 Miles
per Hour to 45 Miles per Hour
The Orange County Traffic Engineering staff has evaluated the existing posted speed
limits on Chase Road in southwest Orange County.
Chase Road has a current posted speed limit of 55 miles per hour from Winter Garden
Vineland Road to Jack Nicklaus Parkway. As development increases in this section of
Chase Road more driveways have been added. In a recent study, the 85 1h percentile speed
of vehicles traveling this roadway is 4 7 miles per hour eastbound and 49 miles per hour
westbound. Based on travel speeds on this road and increased development, staff can
support lowering the speed limit from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour.
Staff requests that the Board approve reducing the existing posted speed limit on Chase
Road from Winter Garden Vineland Road to Jack Nicklaus Parkway from 55 miles per
hour to 45 miles per hour.
