Reservoir: The Upper Jurassic Fulmar Formation is 121 feet thick in discovery well 22/30a-16 (net:gross 0.77), and porosity of its sandstones ranges between 19.7 and 22.6%. The oil-bearing Triassic section in Heron Field well 22/30a-2, 9 km to the north-west, has a net:gross of 0.79 with average 20.5% porosity. Source: The Upper Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay Formation is undoubtedly the source rock interval for the hydrocarbon column discovered in well 22/30a-16. Seal: Overlying mudstones of the Humber Group provide the topseal for the 22/30a16 discovery. Since the Middle Jurassic Pentland Formation overlying Lead 22/30A may have a relatively high net:gross, exploration success in the Triassic strata is likely to require an effective intraformational seal, either towards the base of the Pentland Formation or within the Triassic section. Risk: Topseal is a significant risk for Lead 22/30A. 18000 21000 Promote UK 2015 2.5 Depth (km) 3.0 NW SE Eocene to Recent 9000 10000 Paleocene Depth (ft) 3.5 4.0 4.5 Lead 22/30B Late Cretaceous to early Paleocene (Chalk Group) 12000 Lead 22/30C 13000 Lead 22/30D 14000 Early Cretaceous (Cromer Knoll Group) Late Jurassic (Humber Group) Late Jurassic (Fulmar Fm.) 15000 Triassic (Heron Group) 16000 5.0 Middle Jurassic (Pentland Formation) 5.5 Triassic (Heron Group) 17000 Late Permian (Zechstein Group) 18000 1km 19000 6.0 Depth section B across Leads 22/30B, 22/30C and 22/30D based on seismic profile B Trap: Hanging wall stacked closures of the Upper Jurassic Fulmar Formation, Middle Jurassic Pentland Formation and Triassic Heron Group flanking a salt diapircored horst to the south-east. Reservoir: Upper Jurassic sandstones of the Fulmar Formation form the reservoir for the 22/30a-16 discovery 6 km to the north-east, where 90 feet net sandstone has an average sidewall core porosity of 17.4% and average permeability of 4.9 mD. In Heron Field well 22/30a-6, 5.5 km to the north, porosity in Pentland Formation sandstones ranges mostly between 14 and 19%. The oil-bearing Triassic section in Heron Field well 22/30a-2 has a net:gross of 0.79 with average 20.5% porosity. Source: The Upper Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay Formation is the source rock interval for the many gas, oil and condensate fields in adjacent blocks. Seal: An effective topseal is provided by overlying mudstones of the Upper Jurassic Humber Group. However, there is a significant risk for seal breach along the boundary fault to the south-east. Risk: Seal breach at their boundary fault is the only significant exploration risk for all three stacked leads.
