Cubs leave circling clockwise around the circle shaking hands with each Scouter as they pass by. Cubs: Akela: Cubs: PACK TENDERPAD INVESTITURE PACK TENDERPAD INVESTITURE Akela: TENDERPAD INVESTITURE: This is the most important of all Cub ceremonies. Keep it simple and impressive so the Cubs enter into it completely. Tenderpads they may be nervous to tell them to , “repeat after me” before asking them to make their promise. Hold the ceremony at the beginning of a regular meeting immediately after the opening Grand Howl as the pack is already setup in a circle. and you have their attention. Investiture is very special to the Tenderpads because they are now recognized as full fledged cubs. . He or she is about to become a member of the worldwide Scouting Movement. Akela: Facing the KIM “Repeat after me, the Wolf Cub Law” “The KIM respects the Old Wolf;” “The KIM respects himself” Akela: To the KIM; “What is the Wolf Cub Motto” “Do your best.” KIM: Akela: Asks the KIM to depart the circle and return to the circle in a clockwise matter CUB AVANCEMENT TO TROOP CUB ADVANCEMENT TO TROOP Pack Leaders PROCEDURE: • The Pack forms a circle with the Akela in the centre. • Position the KIM at the top of the circle. • The Troop forms a horseshoe a few meters away. Hold the advancement ceremony at the beginning of a regular meeting immediately after the opening Grand Howl as the Pack is already setup in a circle and you have their attention. Pack Leaders Akela Advancing cubs KIM Troop Horseshoe After the opening the Akela invites the cubs who are advancing into the centre of the circle and thanks them with a handshake and speaks to their role in the cub pack. Parents should be invited to attend the advancement ceremony to take photographs. When the Troop Counselor is ready, the Akela invites the advancing cubs to walk around the inside of the Pack circle and shake the hands of all of the cubs in the Pack. As the cubs complete their handshakes, the KIM opens the top of the circle Troop Scouter Scout Leader Color party The Troop Counselor invites the cubs to run and leap over a spar held by the Troop youth. When the last cub has left the Akela closes the Pack circle. The Troop Counselor welcomes each Cub and tells them that they are now called “Pioneer Scouts”. The Troop Patrol Leaders collect each “Pioneer Scout” and takes them back to their section of the Troop Horseshoe to introduce them to the other members of their Scout Patrol. The Troop then conducts an opening with the new Pioneer Scouts. Akela Spar Troop Horseshoe COLONY SWIM-UP TO CUBS COLONY SWIM-UP CEREMONY TO PACK SECTION PROMISE LAW & MOTTO (PLM) DIAGRAM: BEAVER SWIM-UP TO PACK Near the end of the Beaver program year, the White Tail Beavers who have decided to transition into the Cub section, shall participate in the swimming-up ceremony. Pack leaders (Old Wolves) The Swimming-up ceremony formally recognizes the occasion when a Beavers swims up the river to become a Tender pad. The story of "Swimming-up" can be found in the book "Friends of the Forest". The ceremony begins with the Brown and Blue Tail Beavers forming into River-Bank formation, (creating a river) and Cub pack forming parade formation. Parents are invited to take position for photos. (5) • When everyone is in position, the Beaver section lead calls out the name of each Beaver who is swimming up. The leader states to each Beaver "Busy Beavers, I hope you will remember your promise. Once again, I ask you to join me in the Beaver Promise". A (4) The Beavers reaffirm their Beaver Promise together. 3. Blue and Brown tail Beavers blow bubbles at the Beavers. 4. At the end of the river banks, the Beavers stand before the Akela who removes their Beaver hat and vest. The Beavers are now called a "Tender-pad” (Wolf with tender feet). Parents may give the Akela a Pack Sash which can be given to the Tender-pad) The Akela greets the Beavers and shakes their hand using the Scout handshake, and welcomes each Tender-pad by presenting them with the Pack yellow Woggle for their neckerchief. (cub coin may also be given) The Akela will ask the Tender-pads to make a Beaver salute, and then teaches them to modify the salute to the Cub Salute. 5. The Akela leads the new Tender-pads into the Cub pack parade, and the Cub pack, who will welcome them with the Cub pack Grand Howl. The Grand-Howl concludes the Beaver to Cub Pack swim up Ceremony Brown and Blue Tail beavers in river bank formation 2. The Beavers now perform the Scout left hand shake and escorted by the KEEO, walk (swim) up the river. Parents The Beaver leader says: "Busy Beavers, we wish you a happy life and a new sharing as you do your best in the Cub pack". KTT (5) Tenderpads join pack in circle and Grand Howl is performed. (4) Akela greets new Tenderpads and instructs them on the Pack PLM (3) Beavers (3) blow bubbles as KEEO leads Beavers up the river (2) KBB (1) Beaver leaders (2) KEEO leads the beavers up the river to become Tenderpads (1) Colony leader thanks the beavers and recites the beaver Promise for the last time
