70’S PLAY TOUGH IN TOUGH RENO TOURNEY
60’S MOUNTAINMEN OF FLAGSTAFF
65’S PLAY COMPETITIVE AGAINST MAJORS/AAA
Git-R-Done Teams continues with high expectations and competitive challenges through Mid-way of the
2015 Senior Softball season. Our efforts have been rewarded with results that we are improving at all
levels. Still, we need to continue to dedicate ourselves to further our goals of capturing the
championship Rings. We have lost numerous games by 1 run, others by 3 or less. We rarely get blown
away unless it is by teams that are rated higher than we are. So we are on the edge of Championship
caliber play. We need to believe in ourselves and our fellow teammates, the future is ours you see.
Let’s stay positive, stay focused and stay the Git-R-Done course.
The Git–R–Done 70’s
Rockin-Reno Tournament
Generally one of the toughest tourneys west of the Mississippi. The guys played well. They achieve
a 3rd place finish. As usual there were other challenges besides playing the competition. The boys
losing to some solid competition, but then again hung in there with 3 wins. Geno brought our teams
to Reno and they were a team to be reckoned with!
Tommy
Fellow Players,
We have proven that Git-R-Done 70’s can play at elevations above 4000 feet. We finished 3rd out of
5 teams, winning 3 games with scoring at least 7 or more runs. We lost two games by 1 and one by
4. The two games were to Cal Oaks from Sacramento area and they finished first.

I hope that all of you made it home safely. I know that the conditions were not good in traveling to
Reno, rain, snow, and winds along the route. Everyone made it despite Mother Nature trying to stop
your progress along the way. I want to thank all of you and your wives or girlfriends for making the
trip to Reno. Elevation effect breathing when running the bases or chasing hit balls. Some minor
injuries were encountered by several players but they stuck it out to the last game on Thursday. GitR-Done 70’s want to thank Jerry McGee and Gregg Archer for joining us on this adventure in Reno.
Git-R-Done wants to thank Mike Welch for joining the GRD family and the outstanding job he did at
short.
We have three players that made the all-tournament team and they are Jon Newell, Donnie
Sternberger, and Bill Hamilton. There were many great plays and 7 players finished at or above 600.

The Git–R–Done 60’s
Mountain Madness Tournament
1st time we have had a team play in Flagstaff. Fields were good despite rain and our team was able
to play their games. Our guys were without a doubt competitive. Playing short-handed losing 3 of
the 4 games by only 1 run. That is worth noting. We were in the games!
Tommy
Flagstaff Recap
Another challenging tournament, but we had a lot of fun and were fortunate to have played at all, as it
rained until midnight the prior night. Many thanks to the field crew for clearing the water and starting
games at 8am sharp.
With a limited and injured roster of only 11, three of our four games were decided by 1 run. We reached
our BA goal of .650 and hit 20 doubles. Most of those would have been triples or more, but the muddy
warning track made them automatic ground rule doubles.
Fortunately, we expect a fairly full squad at CalCup in Hemet in July (and no rain), so let's plan to Git-RDone.
Saturday:
Win over LV Raiders: 10-9
We scored our fewest runs of the tourney, but won with good pitching (thanks Jerry) and solid defense.
Rob was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI and Craig was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. With the game tied in the
open inning, Ed brought home the winning run with a fly ball off the glove of their diving Right Center
Fielder.
Loss to Advanced Auto: 14-17
We picked up our offense with Ronnie batting 4 for 4 with a double, Mario 3 for 3 with one of his three
booming doubles and Rob again 3 for 3 with 2 RBI. Steve T pitched a solid game and our defense did
well, but needed more of our extra base hits to be more than ground rule doubles.
Loss to Las Vegas Realty 13-14
Difficult loss in the open inning, but Craig and Ron both went 3 for 4 with a double while Mario and Ed
went 2 for 3 with a double. Steve S hit a very long single that we're still talking about...if you didn't hear,
ask us next tourney.
Sunday:
Loss to LV Raiders: 16-17
With Ed on the bench defensively, Craig twisted his ankle In the very first inning, Thinking we have no
chance, our guys don't give up and manage to hit 9 doubles (should have been triples or more). But they
had the hammer and made the most of it. David led the team at 3 for 3 with 2 doubles. Craig, Ron, Mario
and Rob were all 3 for 4.
Game vs. Advanced Auto cancelled
Advanced Auto needed to go home and not able to play the consolation game (2 game wait). However,
we had made the same decision at the same time, so all had a safe drive home (or to Grand Canyon,
Sedona or Laughlin).

The Git–R–Done 65’s
Top Gun-Escondido Tourney
We showed up, we played, we competed! Tough Tournament, playing 3 AAA teams and 2 Major
Teams. For the most part, we remained competitive. The team never quit! Most of the time we
were behind, but proud to say, we never gave up giving our competition a scare and winning 1
game.
Tommy
HEY GUYS,
A LONG TWO DAYS IN ESCONDIDO, BUT WE DID HAVE FUN. WE KNEW THINGS WERE A BIT
STACKED AGAINST US. CONSIDERING WE WERE SCHEDULED TO PLAY AGAINST 3 TRIPLE A
TEAMS & 2 MAJORS. HOWEVER, WE HAVE NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF AS WE DID VERY WELL
CONSIDERING WE ARE A DOUBLE AA TEAM AS A TEAM WE HIT .620 AGAINST SOME VERY GOOD
DEFENSES. I TRULY BELIEVE WE HAD GUSTO, A MAJOR TEAM, REALLY CONCERNED IN THAT
LAST GAME AS WE WERE AHEAD GOING INTO THE 7th. INNING AND WE WERE HOME TEAM
BY THEIR CHOICE.
IT WAS OBVIOUS EVERYONE PUT FORTH THEIR ‘BEST EFFORT’ IN EVERY GAME. THE AWARD
FOR MOST OUTSTANDING ‘TATOO’ GOES TO BILL RUGH. FORTUNATELY THE LINE DRIVE SHOT
TO HIS THIGH ON THURSDAY DIDN’T KNOCK HIM OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT. BILL YOU’RE A
REAL TROOPER. HOPE THE THIGH GETS BETTER SOON.
IN MY OPINION EVERYONE OF YOU DESERVE ‘MVP’ STATUS. THERE ARE A FEW THAT DESERVE
SOME SPECIAL RECOGNITION DUE TO THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO OUR TEAM EFFORT. WHEN YOU
READ THE FOLLOWING STATS YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN;
GREGG ARCHER/ARROW HAD A PERFECT TOURNEY WITH A 1.000 AVG WHILE LEADING THE
TEAM WITH 8 RUNS SCORED.
TOMMY DEROCHER/BOSS MAN HIT .857
JIM HANSEN/SPANKY HIT .833 WITH 2 WALKS & A SACRAFICE.
BOB WINTER/YANKEE BOB HIT .833 WHILE SHARING THE RBI LEAD OF 7 WITH DAVE
KALLOK/BIG DAVE & TOM SALINAS/P..D. TOM
AGAIN,
ALL OF YOU ARE MVP’S IN MY BOOK. NEXT TOURNEY IS THE CAL CUP / SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA CHAMPIONSHIPS IN HEMET IN JULY. I WILL HAVE THE ROSTER OUT
PROBABLY NEXT WEEK.
STAY SAFE AND WILL SEE YOU SOON,,
JER
