Rules for Forming
Comparative & Superlative
Adjectives
 double the final consonant
and add the suffix (thin,
thinner, thinnest; mad,
madder, maddest)
 drop the e and add the
vowel suffix (nice, nicer,
nicest; brave, braver,
bravest)
 consonant y, change the y
to I and add suffix (curly,
curlier, curliest; happy,
happier, happiest)
Students must know the rules
& be able to change singular
nouns to their plural form.
