OTHER PERIODS DA98
A 19th century Indian jewelry box. Native Eastern Asia solid woods. Tilt - top. Three drawers.
Box outsides covered with original patinated 17th century low relief ivory panels from a Mogul Dynasty (1526-1858) Palace like
the Taj Mahal.
Age and origin related construction method (using flat brass plates catch and pulls which have a wonderful aged patina)
combined with a fine detailed European construction of the drawers which makes me thinking that an English craftsman in India
was involved.
The Mogul Dynasty finally ended with the Bristish engagement.
