THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2016 was held on
April 3rd, 2016
at The OLD COUNTRY INN in UNIONVILLE, ON

The gulyas was superb, our members lively and the location ideal. We all enjoyed ourselves at the Old Country Inn and were
grateful, that the predicted snowfall did not materialize until the evening. Gabriele Grof, the president of the Burgenlaender
Club Toronto was delighted to welcome such a joyful crowd. More details of this gathering on page 2.

• This was an election year. The new Board consists of the following members:

Roy Perl and Bernadette Toner supervised the elections. Many thanks to Bernadette and Roy. Both are always
ready to help when the need arises.

The Board accepted with deep regret the resignation of Adolf Graf. Adolf has been on the Board for more than
20 years and for many years the treasurer. Recently, he also handled the portfolio of membership. His wife
Helga, who was also a Board member for meany years, was always a staunch support. We thank Adolf and
Helga for their enormous contribution and do hope, they’ll continue to be part of us and they’ll visit often.
•
In order to reach out to our young people, we have established a facebook page.(Burgenländer Club Toronto).
It works with and without the dots on the a. Items that might be of interest to the younger generation will be
posted there (e.g. scholarships). Detailed information though will continue to be in the Newsletter and on our
website.

The program/Das Programm:
10:30 a.m. Holy Mass in front of the chapel on the hill.
10:30 Heilige Messe auf dem Hügel vor der Kapelle.
Food Service will commence afterwards. Beside our traditional foods, Wiener Schnitzel,
Sausages etc., our ladies will bring their well-known and well-loved homemade baked goods that
will also be for sale.
The Bar will offer a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
The GOLDEN KEYS have agreed to play for your dancing and listening pleasure.
You can cool off in the SWIMMING POOL, always popular with young and old. GAMES will
be organized for the young and young at heart.
The Picnic will take place in any weather since a large Clubhouse is available for our use.

Concession Line 7 is a north/south road, located
west of Hwy 27, east of Hwy 50 (only 1/4 km
east to 7th Line from Hwy 50) and north of Hwy
9. Please drive north on Line 7 for 2 km from
Hwy 9. The park is on your right.
Please Note: The license prohibits guests from bringing their own alcoholic beverages. The Club
can lose the license and be fined $25,000.00. Please comply. THANK YOU!

Sadly, we lost some of our dear friends…
Julius BALDASTI, originally of Jabing but now of Sophiasburgh, ON, passed away on March 18th, 2016 in his 88th year. He
will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, Anna, his sons Roy (Anna), Jimmy (Laurie), five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. In Austria, his sister Margaret Tomizer also mourns his passing.
Alois LOIPERSBECK, he too was a resident of Jabing but in Canada he lived in Pickering,
ON, died on February 16, 2016 in his 95th year, He was the husband of the late Juliana, nee
Bandl and the beloved father of Linda (Charles), Monica and Johannes (Lynda). Two
grandchildren and three great grandchildren will also miss him greatly.
OUR CONDOLENCES! MAY THEY REST IN PEACE!!

Congratulations to Joe and Jennifer Stipsits (Joe is originally from Stinatz/Stinjaki) who are celebrating their
50th wedding anniversary. We wish them continued love and joy and happiness. Loads of blessings to you both
from all of us at the Burgenlaender Club Toronto. We hope to see you together happy and healthy for many years to
come. Bog Vas živi!
Mrs. Theresa Lackner is one fortunate lady. On January 1, 2016 she celebrated her 90th birthday.
Congratulations Theresa! May you be blessed with many more happy and healthy years. Hoch soll sie leben…!!!
On April 23rd, 2016, Emma Buczolits, nee
Schedar, of Burlington, ON, originally of
Langental (Longitolj), turned 80 years young. She
was celebrated by her friends on Sunday April 17,
2016 and on the day of her birthday,
her family prepared a surprise party at her
grandson’s place that was absolutely lovely. Emma
and her late husband Rudi were blessed with two
children (Mariane and Rudy) and six
grandchildren. Congratulations Emma! Čestitamo!
Dragi Bog neka Te na dalje čuva i nadari s dobrim
zdravljem.
