Keeping our kids safe
Last week on the way home, two of our smaller students who live in
the Tyndall Road area crossed Wainui Road at the Rutene Wainui
Road Intersection. We constantly remind our tamariki that if they
need to cross Wainui Road that they do so at the school crossing.
Could you remind your tamariki please? Luckily for us, the trucks
and vehicles on the day stopped just in time. Little ones walking to
school by themselves is probably a good idea either. Make sure that
they are walking with their siblings or neighbouring tamariki if you
are unable to walk with them.
It is also timely to remind parents of our 5 year olds that school
finishes at 2.30pm. If you are running late to pick up your child,
please call us. Keeping our kids supervised and safe is our
absolute priority.

Ako Hui coming up
Ako Hui are a time for whānau to visit school to hear from their child
about their learning progress for the first half of year. During Ako
Hui, kaiako also provide you with a written update on student
progress for Reading, Writing and Maths in relation to the National
Standards. Every student at Kaiti is currently building their apple
keynote presentations of their learning and progress for the first half
of year. Using Language, Symbols and Text, the tamariki are
learning about the essential components of an effective
presentation. Filming themselves and loading this footage to their
presentation is another new learning area for many. Please set this
date aside to attend AKO hui. (Thursday 30 June)

Tamararo Kapahaka 2016
The kaiako and tutors appreciate your attendance at the recent
parent hui. There was a huge turnout for the first wananga and Matua
Rick was pleased to see some of our Year 4s coming along to take
part. Wananga is on again this weekend from 1- 6pm at the hall.
Please make sure that your tamariki are on time, with their bag, snack
and drink, wearing clothing that is suitable for kapahaka please.
Wear a Kaiti Hoodie!
Winter has certainly arrived this week. The Kaiti Hoody is the winter
regulation top. Jackets are ok to wear to kura too but they are taken
off when tamariki arrive in class. Hoodies are on sale from the school
office for $40.
Westpac School Banking
School Banking Day is Fridays. Congratulations to Jules Paul who is
the April Banker. Jules wins a $20 credit to his bank account courtesy
of Westpac. Every little bit that we save today adds up. We are trying
to teach our tamariki to save for another day. If you would like your
child to start banking for tomorrow, please see Koka Lillian for more
details.

Parent nominations for the Board Elections…
This week we provide you with messages from two more parent nominations for the School Board

Ko Turuhira Keelan-Tamale ahau
Kia ora and Malo e lelei
My name is Turuhira Keelan-Tamale and I've been a current BOT Parent
Rep member for the past three years. I'm an ex Kaiti school student and
both my daughters are current students. My view on being on the BoT, is
about enhancing student achievement to reach their full potential and
making a positive difference to our children's learning. There have been
many challenges that the BoT have faced, but the rewards have been
significant such as 4-5 year ERO review, Bikes for School initiative,
School Uniforms, New Classrooms and Fale Maama, just to name a few.
I have enjoyed this journey that I have taken with my fellow BoT
members, and thank them for all the knowledge, guidance and
memories. I would be more then honoured to be re-elected onto the
Kaiti school BoT for another three years.
Malo Aupito, Thank you very much Turuhira Tamale
Kaiti Sports is underway
Thanks to the parents of the Kaiti Kids
"My daughter Tamara is currently in the Tongan Bi-Lingual class here at
Kaiti School. Also being of Samoan decent, I see myself as bringing
some Pasifika 'flava' to the Kaiti School Board of Trustees mix.
You may have seen me helping out with Tamara's class fundraising
events, or as a parent driver for the Kaiti Swimming Academy. Recently
I have been involved in some of the Whanau Ora activities here at
Kaiti.
I would now like to develop an understanding and appreciation with
regards to the Governance of Kaiti School.
As a parent representative of the BOT, I would like to offer my
extensive life/work experiences and knowledge of working within
communities from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds;
with the view of continually striving to provide an optimum and
harmonious learning environment for everyone here at Kaiti School - be
you an akonga, kaiako, whanau or staff member.”
Sepoima Tulia
who are out there every Saturday
morning having fun and trying their
best for the team. The kids love it
when whanau come to tautoko and
support from the sideline. Thank you
for being such a positive sideline
supporter. This is what it’s all about.
Remember to be there 15 minutes
before your game and have fun out
there.
