Appellation: Spring Mountain District Harvest Date

2001 TERRA VALENTINE WURTELE VINEYARD
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
T
erra Valentine produces wines with mountain intensity and balance that express the character of the Spring
Mountain District appellation, the vineyards and the passion of the winemaking team. Terra, the Latin word for “land,”
acknowledges the importance of hillside soil in the mountain wines. Valentine honors Owner Angus Wurtele’s father,
Valentine Wurtele. Winemaker Sam Baxter appreciates the importance of balance in the creation of mountain wines.
Through the use of fully- automated sealed punch-down tanks, we are able to extract better tannins.
The 2001 harvest at the Wurtele Vineyard is one of the best in our most recent history. The extended growing season
nurtured the vines at an ideal temperature providing perfect ripeness of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The two vineyard
blocks selected for the 2001 Wurtele Vineyard, achieved an extra two weeks of ripening enhancing the full natural
flavors of dark fruit, and bittersweet chocolate.
