Know your calculator!
Your calculator can do all sorts of things, so make sure you know
how to use it! Your calculator should look like this one...
Remember the
good old arrow
buttons to
navigate the
screen!
Important buttons
Some buttons are used more often than others. Here are the
important ones that you NEED to know!
This button (that I call
the 'Scooby Doo'
button) changes an
answer from a
fraction to a decimal
You can add any
power to a
number
Square root
Brackets
Fraction
This button will
add 'squared' to a
number

Buttons within Buttons
You'll notice, above the buttons, there are more functions written in
yellow.
To access these, you need to first hit the shift button.
This will allow you to access things like cube root and pi

When putting this into your calculator try to get your display to look
exactly like the question. For this example, start by pressing the
fraction key, then typing in the top and the bottom.
The answer you should get is
0.03828657286
IMPORTANT: To answer these questions, you will need to be able
to round to decimal places and significant figures. See the 'Number
and Place Value' booklet for help on this.
