Almost from the birth Winston Churchill was seen as an inconvenience to his parents and in
the eyes of his father; a hopeless failure. The belief that Churchill would ‘degenerate into a
shabby useless existence,’ was recurring and popular throughout his life.

Churchill’s life ebbed dramatically from one extreme to another. Rejected in his youth as a
degenerate, hated in politics because he believed in true service above self, Churchill was
determined as the lone voice of warning of the rising threat of Hitler and his Nazis.

Throughout his tumultuous existence, Churchill clung to the belief that he was born for
greatness. Refocusing the negative of others, Churchill used the cruelty to fuel his

Jonathan is a native Briton now living in the United States with his wife
Sara and their children. Having shared many of his great-grandfather’s
challenges in life and education, Jonathan was inspired by Churchill’s Never Surrender
determination that reversed the negativity of other and empowered him to courageously keep
fighting on.
Churchill’s legacy is legendary and his determination in the face of rejection and failure is a
quality needed no less today than during the greatest struggle this world has ever faced.
