Kansas State University encourages you to
test out of courses in which you already have
academic knowledge comparable to that
gained in collegiate study.
Three national credit by examination opportunities are available: the College Level
Examination Program (CLEP), the Defense
Activity for Non-Traditional Education
Support (DANTES), and the Excelsior College
Exams. CLEP and DANTES tests can be
scheduled through the Academic Assistance
Center, 101 Holton Hall, 785-532-6492. The
following registration fees are paid at the
time of the examination: CLEP, $102 per test;
DANTES, $105 per test.

K-State students who believe their past
education or experience qualifies them to
gain credit for a course may take special,
locally constructed examinations for many
of the courses offered on campus.
To quiz out of a course, you must receive
permission from the head of the department
in which the course is offered. In order to
be eligible to quiz out of a course a student
must be currently enrolled at K-State. Contact
the appropriate department head for more
information.
Credit by examination may receive letter
grades of A, B, or C or the notation “Credit,”
as determined by the granting department.
The credit will be treated as resident credit.
