Headlamps
Headlamps with several functions
The headlamps are divided into a main and an auxiliary unit,
which gives an excellent choice of performance and features.
The headlamps give the truck a distinctive appearance, primarily
due to the V-shaped position marker lights that frame the upper
lamp housing. The turn indicator, main beam, dipped beam, front
position lights and daytime running lights are all integrated into
the upper lamp housing.
The lower auxiliary unit can be specified with fog light, extra main
beam and cornering light. The extra main beam and cornering light
share the same position in the housing and therefore cannot be
combined. If neither of these features is specified, the fog light
gets a more central location in the housing.
The plastic front lamp lens is resistant to stone-chip damage. The
lamp housing is designed for low air resistance.

The main unit
The main unit has a distinct design with daytime running lights in
a unique V-shape. The FH has a chromed lamp housing while the
FH16 has a black lamp housing.
The main unit is offered in three basic versions:
• Halogen lamps – HL-BASIC (FH, FM).
• Bi-Xenon lamps – HL-BHID (FH, FM).
• Bi-Xenon with Dynamic Bending Light – HL-DBL (FH, FM).
• Halogen lamps – HL-BAS2 (FMX).
• Bi-Xenon lamps – HL-BHID2 (FMX).
It is possible to choose between different asymmetric lights and to
change from asymmetric to symmetric light in the Bi-Xenon lamps.
The main unit includes the following functions:
• Main beam.
• Dipped beam.
• Turn indicator.
• Front position light.
• Daytime Running Light (DRL).

The auxiliary unit (not for FMX)
The auxiliary unit offers an excellent choice of performance and features.
It includes the following functions:
• Fog light – FOGL-WC.
• Extra main beam – DRIVL2.
• Static Cornering Light – CL-STAT.
The auxiliary unit is offered in four basic versions:
• Fog light.
• Fog light and extra main beam.
• Fog light and Static Cornering Light.
• Without (plastic cover).

Daytime Running Light – DRL
The Daytime Running Light is combined with the front position light
using LED technology. When activated, the DRL has a distinct
V-shape. When the dipped beam is activated, the DRL light
is dimmed to a V-shaped, normal front position light.
Depending on the market, three different options for DRL functions
are available:
Basic, no light turned on at all – UDRL.
DRL activated and all position lights* on – DRL-LED.
* Position marker lights = front position light in headlamp, side marker light, rearend outline marker light (tail lamp), rear position light (tail lamp) and end outline
marker lamps on roof.
When the truck is parked and the engine is switched off, trucks
with DRL-LED will automatically switch from front position light to
DRL mode when the engine is started up. With UDRL it will start
up on the last position (DRL, D or D+ on the light control switch).

Dynamic Bending Light.
Static Cornering Lights.
Dynamic Bending Light (not for FMX)
With the Dynamic Bending Light the dipped beam follows the
road, activated by a signal from the steering system. It is activated
when driving with Drive + (D+) on the light control switch and
at a speeds above 10 km/h. The Dynamic Bending Light module
operates at +11 to –7.5 degrees.
Static Cornering Lights
When the truck slows down to turn a corner in the dark, the Static
Cornering Lights light up the immediate area on the left or right
side and help spot unprotected road users.
Approach Light
On vehicles with remote controlled central locking, LOCK-REM,
a feature called Approach Light is included. It is activated
by a separate button on the key-fob. The Approach Light illuminates
the area close to the truck and increases visibility around the truck
at night:
• Position lamps (in headlights and rear lights).
• Instep lamp.
• Side marker lamps.
• Direction indicators.
• Interior light.

Approach light.
Gas-discharge lamps as an option
The standard bulbs for main and dipped beam are halogen, type
H7. Halogen bulbs provide a concentrated beam with a long throw.
The dipped beam can also be specified with gas-discharge bulbs
(HID/Bi-Xenon), which increase light intensity by 20% and have
a longer lifetime. Bi-Xenon is also utilised for main beam and the
beam pattern changes by means of a visor that is pulled away when
the main beam is activated. The Bi-Xenon light is supplemented
with H1 bulbs when main beam is activated to guarantee ultimate
lighting power. The front position lights consist of low-energy
LED units. For the dipped beam, it is possible to switch between
asymmetrical and symmetrical light via a stalk behind the reflector
(Bi-Xenon).
