Outstanding grads named
There are 84 Montana State University seniors this year graduating with academic honors.
Five students have earned the "Summa Cum Laude" title for maintaining the highest grade point average throughout their college career. Each maintained a perfect 4.00 grade point average.
Earning the "Summa Cum Laude" award are
'Robin Gram Messer of Forsyth who has completed requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree majoring in accounting.
' Michelle Marie Millhollin of Forsyth who is receiving two degrees—a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree majoring in accounting, and a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring
in Spanish.
'Margaret Alice Nation of Colstrip who is receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a teaching major in English.
•Mariyam Mulla Parkins of Birmingham, England who has completed requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in biology.
'Kathleen Ann Scovil of Billings who is receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in history.
Two students maintained grade point averages of 3.98, thus earning the Magnu Cum Laude title:
•Joan D. Ameline of Miles City who has completed requirements for a Bachelor of Science Education degree majoring in elementary education.
•Alyosha C. Hanson of Billings who is receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in communication arts and Spanish

Alpha Lambda Delta and Alpha Chi
honor societies; and being a MSUBillings Ambassador and an Accounting Club Officer.
She was also a member of the
Chancellor Search Committee. the
Interim Vice Chancellor for Student
Affairs Search Committee, the Collaborative Bargaining Negotions
Team. the Academic Senate Budget
Committee and the Foreign Language Department Unit Rank and
Tenure Committee.
Off campus, Millhollin found
time to volunteer as Treasurer for the
Lindeen for House District Number
Seven campaign. the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and
at Saint Vincent Hospital and Health
Care Center.
Last summer she was selected
to participate in the "Women as
Leaders" seminar in Washington
D.C.. and following graduation, will
return to Washington D.C. as a Peat
Marwick employee.

as well as a person with high moral

Nation earned the "Summa
Cum Laude title having maintained
a 4.00 grade point average while
majoring in English. She will receive
a Bachelor of Science in Education
degree at the May 6 Commencement
Convocation.
In addition to completing her
academic work with excellence and
participating in numerous out-oftown classroom and community activities, Nation is a wife and mother
of two children.
On campus, Nation was active
in Alpha Lambda Delta, an honor
society; PUB Board; Spanish Club;
and Sigma Tau Delta, a national English honorary for which she was
chapter president this past academic
year.
One of her highlights with
Sigma Tau Delta was working on the
Writer's Roundup, the annual
fundraiser of the organization.
Nation volunteered as a judge
for the Billings Speech and Debate
Meet, assisted teaching classes in the
Department of English and Philosophy, worked in the Writing Lab, participated in the Montana Arts and
Sciences Conference and coauthored a paper presented at the
Wyoming Conference on English.
"Alice's many talents and her
singular willingness to contribute her
time and effort far beyond the call
of duty make her an outstanding asset to the entire school," Schaffer
said when nominating Nation for the
award.
Satake, who will receive a
Bachelor of Science degree at the
May 6 Commencement Convocation, will graduate with high honors
as she maintained a 3.83 grade point
average during her college career.

She has also taught private lessons to seven piano students and one
clarinet student, and has served as
an adjudicator of music festivals and
accompanied other music performers at recitals.
Satake has been a member of
the two honor societies, Alpha Chi
and Alpha Lambda Delta; involved
with the Collegiate Music Educators

National Conference in various leadership roles and serving as Montana
State Executive Assistant for the past
year; the International Association of
Jazz Educators and the Piano Club.
She has also been active with
Recreational Activities throughout
her five years on campus and participated twice in intramural sports,
being selected to the all star basketball team twice.
"I am a self motivator and enjoy what I do," Satake said. "My
love for living and for sharing is a
simple sign of hope."
