Free to Good
This big fella unfortunately
can no longer be ridden so
I’ve decided to try and find
him a good home as a
paddock companion. He is
a beautiful natured man
who would follow you around the paddock all
day for a smooch.
Home
Perfect to handle in any way just unable to be
ridden, unless you were prepared to completely
retrain him. Can explain further on the phone.
Booking form attached.
Showjumping
Good luck to our members
competing at the TTT Show
on the 19th & 20th of Jan!
with Sue Tufnell
Sunday 3rd February
9.00 - 1.00pm
At Club Grounds
Sue qualified as an equestrian coach under the BHS
system with international Show Jumper Iris Kellett and
spent some time teaching & competing before
moving to Australia with husband Chris.
In Australia Sue competed with success in eventing
and is an accomplished and talented rider and trainer.
In recent years, Sue and Chris have concentrated on
developing their Irish Sport Horse stud and training
centre in Kilmore.
Sarge is ASHxTB, 12 yrs old and 16.2hh. Don’t be
fooled by his size, he is a very good doer and is
nice and round just on hay. I would keep him if
I had enough land but I don’t - plus I’m about
to have my second child and I have one good
riding horse so I simply cannot keep him. Sarge
is kind to the other horses including my mini.
Can sometimes fret if only with one other horse
and that horse is taken away. Fine if he can see
other horses. Would make the perfect Nanny. No
hassle horse, good with fences, feeding, farrier,
anything.
Happy to answer any questions you may have.

Xmas Breakup
Report by Sally
A good time was had by all – riders and horses – at our end of year breakup in
December. As you can see from the photos we attacked the Handy Mount course
with gusto! The brand new wooden bridge was the most popular challenge
closely followed by the Earth ball.
While quite a few of the horses treated the bridge with a degree of suspicion (we
all know that trolls live under bridges) most finished the day confidently clip
clopping their way over without hesitation.
There were few problems with the earth ball. The challenge involved asking the horse to move the ball several
metres with any part of their body. There were knees, chests, noses and hooves involved and even a
demonstration of Earth Ball gymnastics....mmm.
Riders were also required to bend through a line of flags, ride over the tartan picnic rug, hit the silver ‘fit ball’
around a cone and back, ride through zig zag poles on the ground, over the Old English Plate jumps, pick up
and carry a flag, and rein back through poles. Don’t underestimate this type of activity or think it is ‘kid’s stuff’.
It is a wonderful way to test and develop your partnership with your horse.
Top 10 and end of year awards winners list will be in the February newsletter
Rally Programme - Sunday 20th January 2013
Whittlesea Showgrounds (Enter via Showgrounds Road)
Our first rally for the year may be a little lower on numbers with people still away on
holidays, horses spelling after Christmas and a large contingent down at the TTT Show.
We have therefore decided to use a different format.
YOU WILL NEED TO BOOK FOR THIS RALLY
Instructor will be dressage and eventing rider Wendy Christensen
Maximum of 4 per group for Dressage sessions (45 minutes)
Cross country jumping session/s will also be available
First session will start at 9.00am and we plan to finish by 1.00pm
An additional instructor and/or extra sessions will be arranged if numbers warrant
TO BOOK
PLEASE CONTACT SALLY BY TEXT (0407 716 480) or
EMAIL ([email protected])
Before 10th January
Advise your NAME & RIDING LEVEL
Riding times will be advertised on the Whittlesea Adult Riders website on the Thursday
prior to the rally.
RALLY CO-ORDINATORS: Chris & Bec
RALLY HELPERS: Anne Cann, Meg Clark,
Dereley Collins, Nicole Dunn
REMINDER: PLEASE REMOVE ANY MANURE FROM THE YARDS AND PUT CHAINS
BACK UP WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED USING THE YARD
Also – if your horse poops on the all weather arena – please pick it up before you leave the grounds.
We have to pick up all the poo before harrowing to keep grass from growing on arena.
MAXIMUM OF TWO SESSIONS - The committee has set a maximum of two sessions per rider – one dressage
and one non dressage. This is to keep numbers in sessions at a reasonable level.
