that the same may have been contributed to or occasioned by the
negligence of the Triathlon BC representatives or agents. I acknowledge
that I am responsible for the roadworthiness and correct operation of
my bicycle. I realize that I may be subject to unannounced drug testing
as provided for by Triathlon Canada’s agreement with the Canadian
Centre for Ethics in Sport.
The responsibility for sport safety must be shared by all. I, the
undersigned, am aware that there is a certain risk of injury involved
in my own or my child’s participation in sport, either while traveling to
or from the event; or while attending or participating in the programs
or activities of the events which are sanctioned / approved by Triathlon
BC, its Divisions, its Member Clubs or recognized organizing societies.
It is understood by me that signing of this document is intended that on
behalf of myself and/or my child, I assume the shared responsibility
and acknowledge the risk of injury by so participating.

The Spruce Credit Union KOS Triathlon
The triathlon consists of three parts: swimming, cycling and running. Each of
the legs is completed by an individual or a member of a relay team. Teams
can consist of two or three members, boys, girls or mixed.
If you will be 14 or 15 years old as of December 31st, 2016, you can qualify
for the 2016 BC Summer Games. For more information check out https://

THE SWIM
• The swim will take place at the Four Seasons Pool. Competitors will swim
in heats according to their category. The younger competitors will start
first.
• Upon completing the swim, the competitors will exit the building through
the west door and enter the first transition area in the parking lot outside.
THE CYCLE
• There are two different courses for the triathlon.
• Both courses start and finish at the Four Seasons Pool.
• To ensure safety of cyclists, there will be lane closure along Quebec
Street, 5th Avenue, Queensway and Dominion Street.
• Traffic control will be in place; however, cyclists must be alert to possible
traffic hazards.
• Bicycles must be road worthy and are the responsibility of the parent
to ensure it is.
• Parents may accompany ages 6 – 7 years old.
• Competitors 5 years and under MUST be accompanied by a parent.
•Parents MUST wear a helmet and will not be permitted on the race
course without one.
• Competitors completing multiple laps are responsible to count their own
laps.
THE RUN
• The run will follow a loop going around the fire hall, city hall, ice rink, and
four seasons pool.
• Competitors are responsible to keep track of their laps.
