February 2014 Introduction I am delighted to present the research achievements of staff in the College of Human Sciences over the last year. In an increasingly competitive research environment, both nationally and internationally, and at a time of diminished higher education resources, the College has demonstrated unequivocally its standing as a leader of human and social science research. Colleagues have secured over €3.3 millions of new research grants, collected numerous awards and honours, published over 40 books, over 100 book chapters and over 190 peer-reviewed journal papers.
