Research Achievements
UCD College of Human Sciences
September 2012 – August 2013
This booklet is for information purposes only. No liability is accepted for any errors or omissions. February 2014
Introduction
I am delighted to present the research achievements of staff in the College of
Human Sciences over the last year. In an increasingly competitive research
environment, both nationally and internationally, and at a time of diminished
higher education resources, the College has demonstrated unequivocally its
standing as a leader of human and social science research. Colleagues have
secured over €3.3 millions of new research grants, collected numerous awards
and honours, published over 40 books, over 100 book chapters and over 190
peer-reviewed journal papers. In addition, they have made highly significant
research contributions to tackling major societal challenges in the fields of
poverty alleviation, community inequality, public health, climate change and
urban sustainability.
Many congratulations to everyone concerned.

Vice-Principal for Research and Innovation
